i see your point about Bale...but in the case of Baptista, should Reyes leave permemantly (which looks quite likely to be honest), Wenger would definetly keep Baptista so he can rally perform, because judging by the way Baptista is playing right now he actually has the potential if he adapts, but if not I dont think Wenger would be able to get Robino just maybe Cassano but not both Baptista and Cassano, IMO Reyes is good but not worth Cassano and Baptista.,.
Reyes is on the form of his life at Madrid though. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we got two players in exchange for him. Also it looks like we're not gonna sign Bale, not yet anyway. Also I was hoping that Platini wouldn't get elected as the Uefa president because now we'll have to aim top 3 every year for a place in Europe. The thing is who the hell wants to see teams from various countries who don't even have the resources available to make a proper challenge in the champions league? That's what the UEFA cup is for. I don't wanna see my team playing some team from an eastern european country who's players have day jobs. Sure the 25-0 scoreline would be nice but it's the harsh fact that they don't have the quality to play in the champions league. Why Platini wants to cause a shake-up in a perfectly fine system is quite beyond me.
Playing against top teams, and the money, would give them the opportunity to reach something like that level. Also, there will be less top teams who fail to live up to expectations and just go "Fuck that, we'll just finish fourth and at least we'll be in the Champion's League".
These videos might interest Skywalker: Van Nistlerooy gets utterly pwned What's this? A Thierry Henry injury time winner? What's this? The best fucking goal ever scored against the red Mancs? Vieira gives the Mancs one final kick in the teeth as an Gunner... ...and starts his reign as the France captain in grand fashion: Ronaldo was still feeling that one after the game: Also:
IMO because of the top 3 qualification Leeds missed out on qualifying for the UEFA CL to Liverpool despite being in 4th, so if the 4th place was a UEFA CL spot, so if Leeds actually qualified in the 2000/01 season things could have been very different now...
I like the format we have now. Top 4 champions league, next 2 UEFA cup, 7th Intertoto cup with possibility of UEFA Cup.
I'm in favour of one less Champion's League place and qualification for everything below that being moved up a place.
But why? That only means that mid table teams will have less chance of actualy getting something out of a seasons football?
I already said why. It pains me to say that, being a fan of a mid-table team, but I think it would improve standards, definitely.
the truth hurts doesnt it, but IMO limiting the number teams should also increase the amount of cash/per team for winning and progressing etc...
two massive games up next for Hartlepool United. the are in 4th position now and we've got to play 2nd place Swindon next week away, then the week after we are playing the current number 1's, Walsall. get four points out of that and we are laughing
Why can't we beat Bolton??? EDIT: Looks like Wenger might panic buy in January after Van Persie might face the rest of the season out, Hleb is out for a month and now Baptista picked up an injury during todays game. If I were to bet on it, if we were gonna sign someone to solve the current problem it would probably be Jesus Navas from Sevilla. He can play on both the right side and as a striker.
Or it means Arsenal will struggle to make it into the Champions League at all. But I suppose they nearly fucked up last year with still 4 spots to play for. Here is a better video than those you posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEEqPRYsXpw No hard feelings eh?
That happened like 6-7 years ago. Also you won the title by one point to us that year in which you did your famous treble, just thought you should know that.
I joined in late on the arguement, but I think the Italian, Spanish and English leagues have a lot of quality and deserve to send atleast 4 teams into the CL. Also, many teams like Bolton, Portsmouth and stuff are capable of getting into the top 4 but they'll feel really, really demoralized if they still don't get into the CL. Let's face it, the Top 3 don't change much, and the CL needs atleast a bit of variety. I don't see anything wrong in the current system.
I just thought of something. There are still 3 CL spots at the most for each country. Then teams who finish top of the UEFA cup groups swap places with the teams who finish second in the CL groups.
