I do prefer IPB above all, but there really isn't that much difference between them.

VB is buttloads better than IPB. And even if IPB was THE only forum software out there, I'd rather not have a forum on my site than give those dicks a penny of my money. I've spent enough time there to witness their "our wallets come first, our fame comes second, our customers are somewhere in the top 10" attitude.

If I needed a forum, I wouldnt mind spending 5 bucks a month for a company to host the board. But thats not the point. Invision was more concerned more with squeezing out every cent they could than actually helping the customer and making sure they were satisfied with a product they just spent almost 200 bucks on

We didnt spend anything on this. This version of Invision Board is a couple years old and from the days when Invision was completley, 100% free and the developers promised they would never EVER require people to pay for Invision. Now, you must pay for Invision.

How much and who we're paying for the site hosting is nobody's business really. To be honest, I cant even tell you how much Derek pays for the site.

and IPB didnt get sold to anyone, the developers just got greedy

Todd, you'd have to understand that every company has to get money from somewhere, and that they can't all run off of nothing. Invision was losing money so they had to step up and make it customers only.

Compared to vB, the price is better, especially what the price offers.

Plus there were too many dumbass n00bs downloading it and flooding their forums with stupid questions. I swear, any Invision-related for I go to [IPS, Invisionize, Neowin] there's always a few n00bs asking stupid questions, how do you do this, how do you do that. When simply they could open their eyes and find the soloution themselves.

I agree with Invision's decision actually. If you want to use a real board software, you gotta pay. Even thou their promise was broken [if it can even be called a promise], they had to stop giving it away for free to stupid people wasting their time.

IPS, Inc. was never sold to anyone. If Mecham and his team ever stopped producing IPS products and it got taken over by the phpBB team or vB team, I'd just sell my license to someone.

Actually vB is cheaper. $160 for the lifetime license, and a completley optional 30 bucks a year if you want to continue receiving updates

No, actually, it was on another forum, and they provided a valid explaination how.

Which we have said won't be coming until we either get some hard cash, or even try different board software.
