    First of all thanks LPA for getting these exclusive news for the fans, great job guys.

    Secondly, am I the only one who thinks the image posted in the news should have been the main cover?!

    The covers look better with the jewel case.

    Also, I'm looking at a bunch of Josh's works... most of them seem to follow the black and white motif.

    Guys, please respect this guys work. You may not like the alternative cover but it's highly rude/disrespectful to call it fugly. The guy might be looking at this thread, and the last thing I want him to see is disrespectful comments like the one above this post. To all of you who have been respectful: thank you. To the ones who haven't? Please watch what you say before you say it. Think of how you'd feel to read such comments about your work.

    If someone wanted to say that my work was "Fugly" "Shit" "Dumb" "Crap". I wouldn't mind in the least. It's their opinion and I can't change it. I'm sorry but I can't really agree with this, if someone generally thinks that it is awful I believe they should have the right to say so. Otherwise it's just censoring anything that someone may not like and that's just ridiculous. IMO. Artist know better than anyone else that their work will be critiqued and commented on. They know that people will love it or hate it. I personally love it but to go on and try to deny others opinions on what they think of it isn't that fair.

    I'm really sorry Derek and I know you are doing what you think is best. I appreciate everything this site does for us fans and it's my favorite fan-site. Also, I appreciate all of Josh's work but I just can't agree with this comment because if the hands were turned around and people were dissing my art , I'd welcome all honest opinions instead of trying to censor them out.


    Just my two cents.

    I'm not trying to censor anything Jesse, and I think you misunderstood me here. I'm just asking people to stop being so rude. There's a way to say you highly dislike a certain piece of art without calling it fugly, and I've seen a few people do that in this thread. If the hands were turned and it was MY art...I'd want all types of constructive criticism but I'd hope people would have the decency to say it in a respectful fashion.

    So I get what you're saying, and I respect it. I'm just pleading with people to voice any displeasure they have in a more constructive fashion. If some people don't like this guys work, we won't sway them to do so, but an artist needs to know why people don't like it...otherwise they won't grow. Just calling it fugly and leaving it at that doesn't accomplish jack.

    But then again, we're all for free speech here so I can't really tell people what to do. I just wish people would word their posts a little better.

    Yes, I agree in a way. I mean they are both ambiguous in their own way, and it seems that Rubin wanted the simplicity to come through from his chosen works. The busy, sharp design that blends the two versions leads more to connotations of power, forcefulness and picks up on the struggle between light & dark, maybe emphasising the sound of the album in a more obvious way. I can see why the simpler design was chosen as it still portrays these themes, but in a more humble way.

    i think the artwork is awesome. the GIFs are pretty amazing and the alternative cover sticks out. maybe it will be used as a piece of artwork in the booklet for the record.
