Rihannas voice is terrible and it sounds like she sings straight out of her nose when she performs live. It is definitely produced well-enough on the CD for most people not to notice, but to listen to her live is absolutely excruciating. Between the vibrato and her nasally way of singing, I literally cannot watch her perform.
Don't pay Ant no mind, guys. He's just playing the Devil's Advocate like he always does. No surprise there. He's not happy unless he can get a bunch of people riled up and arguing with him.
Once again, I fail to see the problem here other than you trying to fill your post with text to make it seem like you've made a well-informed reply. Sylar said everything I would have about Rihanna, and as for Linkin Park, well, I've already said I can enjoy Rihanna's music so no problem there. Well, yeah, you were stating the obvious. Why would people buy music if it didn't appeal to them in some way? That includes being a 'fan' of something just because it's cool to do so. He didn't deny that the people who actually buy the music (as I previously stated) would have reasons to find it appealing. If anything he did the opposite with that little bit of joke dialogue in his post. Seriously though, what exactly did that have to do with trying to negate what he'd said? Also previously stated, he obviously finds no appeal in them and makes the more compelling argument. There's something I'd really like to say here but I don't think it's worth receiving my third warning. I think that sums you up pretty well. You dress your posts up to come off as being really controversial and against the grain but amidst all of that, or so you usually attest to later, you're really just a fence-sitter for the most part. You didn't say anything about that though. Well, yeah, considering that you were going to such lengths to act up by disagreeing with some of his points. Shows what you know about a) the music Keith and his band make b) music in general and c) my personal taste and the taste of the vast majority of members.
No, I simply don't agree, Will. Stop flame baiting me. @ Dean: Wow, nice job. You don't even address my points, simply insult. Are you trying to be Will's impersonator here? And I never claimed he said that the music didn't sell. He implied it was overproduced garbage. Sorry, but I still disagree. My entire point was that whether or not you like those artists, they have talent. I'm pretty sure Keith Buckley would disagree on that point, given the gist of his rant. Seems to me he hates all that kind of music. I hate to break this to you, Dean, but disagreeing with someone in one instance doesn't mean you have to always disagree with them. Hence why I did not address the other points. I'm still unsure of how you aren't comprehending me there. Please, Dean, next time you respond to me at least try to make points rather than insults.
How about we all just get back on topic? If you guys can't do that, then just leave the thread. It's pointless arguing.
I've just read 11:55's post, so in light of that I'm not going to bother trying to drag this out further. I had a much longer reply ready and it was posted for about a quarter of an hour, but it's no skin off my nose if Ant is going to claim that I haven't read his posts properly, when I'm absolutely sure I have, and then do exactly that with mine.
He does that in every thread he starts an argument in. When someone lambasts his opinions he goes on the defensive and starts claiming no one read anything he wrote.
Hey Will, just wondering, but are you a little light headed all the way up there on your horse? Please. I'm more than allowed to disagree with statements. And given the fact that he is clearly attributing statements to me that I did not make, then yes, I'd say he had a problem reading my post. I've already addressed the things he attributed to me that were incorrect in my previous posts, such as me not disagreeing with everything stated by Keith Buckley (that's like saying to vote for a political candidate you have to agree with their entire platform). You're no God on LPA. I'm free to agree and disagree with topics if I please. I've agreed on many and disagreed on many. Who are you to say what I am and am not allowed to do? But keep going, Will. Don't address any points and simply try and incite petty arguments by insulting others. Seems to me that's your forte. How's it feel being a big 'ol Internet bully?
I still have my response from the other day but I'm not posting it. Just let it die, and go and be smug about your attempts at bluffing your way out of an argument on the internet somewhere else.
Dean, if you're going to be the bigger man and walk away it doesn't work if you keep saying "I'm being the bigger man and walking away" while still standing there. Go ahead and post it. I honestly don't care either way, Dean. If you wanted it to die, you simply wouldn't have responded. But you responded. Interesting paradox going there. I'm not trying to be "smug" about anything. I never claimed to disagree with Mr. Buckley on everything, yet for some reason you think I did. Sorry, but no. I never said MTV wasn't a crap channel, the events weren't a sham or any of that. Not sure why you seem to think I did. I wouldn't disagree with those statements because I do, in fact, agree with them. Am I not allowed to disagree with a portion of something? It goes back to my presidential comparison -- you don't have to agree with a candidate on everything to support him (or, conversely, disagree on everything to oppose him, as in this situation). "Bluffing"? Not sure what I'm bluffing, but whatever helps you sleep at night.
Wtf. Why don't you all listen to what Mike(11:55) said instead of acting like babies..? Anyway, I enjoyed reading that rant. I quite agree with it, but not on all parts. Enjoyable though.
Frankly the only thing better than Keith Buckley is his Wikipedia entry. He just doesn't do it justice.
I'm just going to apologize and step out of the thread. I never said you weren't allowed to disagree or agree or anything like that, nor was I trying to be an "Internet bully," as you put it, so if that's how it came across (and looking back on it, it did), I'm sorry. So I'm just going to step out. I apologize.
Every Time I Die are awesome. After leaving Ferret I hope they make the right choice in regards to their next label.
Look, I agree with Marj. The staff have been looking at this thread over the past couple of days and thought that we didn't have to intervene because you were all mature enough to have a simple disagreement on a subject without it getting personal or out of line, and although I think the majority has been handled maturely can we just stop and learn to live with other people who have different opinions? I think that you (Ant, Will & Dean) have all said what you have to say now and it looks like it's over, but let's keep it that way please. Thank you.
