Kind of stinks that the "Origin" version of that song was better than the "Fallen" version, though... at least, if you ask me.

The version of Whisper on Fallen was a lot better, in my opinion. Faster tempo, orchestra, a choir; added a whole new feeling to it.

Yeah, but it would be out of place on the album.

I thought it just sounded a lot more bland, even with everything they added to it. I thought it actually had less feeling, myself.

I think Evanescence's success has helped and hindered these bands in equal degrees. People have seemed to take notice of bands like Nightwish and Within Temptation since 'Bring Me To Life' and Fallen were released, but then a lot of people have dismissed them as Ev ripoffs. (already been said but hey, it's my two cents)

Lacuna Coil is the only one of these bands that I like at all.

Not Sharon Osbourne, no, because, uh, she's not even a musical talent. But I could imagine Sabbath being fronted by a woman.

See, I've always listened to Lacuna Coil and Nightwish, but when I heard Evanescence on mainstream radio, I thought it was nice for more people to listen to it.

Of course, that only made kids think that listening to Evanescence made them "liek g0th".

    Egh.

But that's beyond the point. I like Evanescence, but I do believe that Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Tristania...all of those types of bands...> Evanescence.

I, personally, think that Otep is better then 99.9% of all of the male singers/screamers in the metal genre.

If anything Evanescence hasn't opened the door for other femaile fronted bands but ahve just given inspiration to other female fronted bands. Inspiration in the sense that they are showing them it is possible to get mainstream success if you are a female in a rock band. You think it would have opened the door for other bands but I mean its up to the record label to sign these bands and push them through, which they didn't.

Of course, you must realize that 1) Sharon Osbourne doesn't front a metal band and 2) She wouldn't be the type of person to do that.

Comparing Sharon Osbourne to all female singers in bands is not logical.

I know that .I want to stress on is that females can't do all the things that men can and vice versa. But since the U.S is going through a brain shortage,I'll type in an understandable format so that dumb people on this forum can understand.-
Can you imagine a Courtney Love fronted Black Sabbath?

No, because she was an infant in the 60s when Black Sabbath was formed.

Are you mental or something? You don't know how fucking sexist that post came off.

Saying that women can't front metal bands is like saying men can't be singers. It's sexist.

The reason you can't see Courtney Love front Black Sabbath is because you know she isn't someone who would do that.

Replace that with Amy Lee or the singer of OTEP, etc. and it will be possible.

By your argument, men shouldn't be in gymnastics because most can't do the splits.

If the world actually acted on your line of thinking, Africans Americans would still be slaves (because since they are inferior, they can't do all the things white people can), Chinese would not be allowed in America (since they wouldn't adapt to American culture when they first immigrated), women wouldn't be allowed to vote (because they supposedly couldn't wield the responsibility right) and humans in general shouldn't be able to survive because they can't live in harmony with nature like animals can.
