Yep. My initial thoughts on Recovery (copy/paste from another forum) i wont go track by track but instead will give a general impression on the album as a whole. it was a breath of fresh air coming from Em. but i thought it lacked his signature style. never expected him to change the style up this drastically. one of the things that disappointed me was the beats. hearin him flow over some the beats just didn sound right to me and i realized how much Dre's beats suit his style. lyrically it was miles ahead of Encore and Relapse but i think he went overboard with the venting. could've taken the constant anger/venting/realization down for a sec and thrown in some conceptual joints in there. to me his best songs are where he spits real shit. it was dope to see that Em still holds it down with punches n metaphors but even with that he went overboard (i guess he was trying to prove the haters wrong). flow was mostly monstrous but on some songs he sounded rushed and sloppy. but i'll give that a pass cuz overall i thought he held it down in that department. but the thing that bugged me the most was his voice. on ALL the songs he had the angry "Way I Am" voice. and that shit got tiring as i made my way down the album. overall i think it's a solid effort. his career is at a transitional stage so with that in mind it's probably the best thing for him to put out at this point. still gotta listen to it a shitload of times and hopefully it'll grow on me more.
yeah there arent happy songs like "without me" or somethin like that..which i miss the most, but i still think that the album is good
The slower songs are awesome. And he kills it on that song with Lil' Wayne. It's just a shame that Lil' Wayne is awful. From what I've listened to of the album so far, it seems pretty solid though. Some of the beats are a bit iffy though.
Seriously! After listening to the album on repeat for over one day I can honestly say that Eminem fucking killed every single song. It's right up there with SSLP, MMLP and Eminem Show, but in it's own way. I'm so glad he went back to punchlines, wordplays and metaphors. Plus his flow patterns in this was straight out of the world. Nobody can touch his flow. Amazing album.
Yeah for sure his best effort since The Eminem Show. AT first it sounds different to a fans ears and very unappealing I admit. But once you actually listen to it. Its amazing
I laughed so many times at some of his punchlines in this album. Not because they were bad, but just cause they were so controversial. There's a lot of horribly mean shit that is just epic. Eminem's back!
Really like the album. The Haddaway sample made me laugh my ass off. On another note has Relapse grown on anyone?
