    The death-toll is nearing 60,000. Wow.

    And here is alittle bit of good news (I guess).

    The death toll just seems to be increasing every other hour. My classmate was telling me that if Sumatra island wasnt there to withstand the tsunamis and earthquakes for Singapore we would definitely be totally wiped out like Atlantis.

    I was just thinking the same thing...
    This is just unimaginable, my indian friend says,"This is God's anger, He is trying to punish us"....I won't even comment since this is a sensitive time.

    Heres what I think;

    You know you all see these films where natural disasters happen all of a sudden and it chain links from one natural disaster to another,well maybe its actualy happening,I mean we already know that our planet is changing because of global warming etc. and we know that our planet is becoming more and more disruptive,maybe just maybe its starting to happen.

    Think about it,an earthquake-tidal wave-? what's next? Chain reactions in volcanoes? Tornado's in different parts of the world?

    I hate sounding like one of those paranoid idiots who ramble on about how the world is going to end but I think this is the start of worse things to come

    According to recent news articles the death toll could be anywhere from 68,000 to 76,000.

    But im glad that at the moment that many australian doctors and aid workers are travelling to the asian nations closest to us to help but it will be hard to transport the supplies because many roads etc have been destroyed. i really hope that aid gets to the many homeless and injured people in time to prevent a disease epidemic.

    i also heard that the Australian cricket team has donated over $17,000 of winnings to help distribute aid and supplies.

    Male was hit particularly hard, and I've managed to find a before/after picture of the island... Mouse over to see the 'before' picture, the default is the 'after' shot, partially cloud-obscured...

    Male Airport - Tsunami Before and After

    Just amazing...and my thoughts go out to everybody involved.

    This is the worst thing I've heard for ages.Many condolances to those who have friends or family or who know someone in those areas. I can't even imagine how hard it must be to be in your situation.

    I just got a email of my instructor in thailand, its weird, hes fine, and the authorities in the area hes livin in wont even tell them the whole story, my instructor didnt find out about the incident until a few hours after it happened because his home town wasnt effected, and still only thinks it was a minor flood, why wont the authorities tell them the truth.
