The thing is that they try to look all hardcore....and try to keep that whole image (I feel) to gain a fanbase. I see your point, Casey, but Korn's music lately (IMO) is repetitive and angry, for no reason. I would acutally like to see them try to make a positive song, I bet Davis would have trouble thinking of lyrics for it.
Tool cover art is always awesome and so is Finger Eleven cover art...and of course LP cover art kicks ass!
Holy S***! How did I forget Aenima?? Tool's Aenima won a Grammy for best CD package! It has that holographic thing on the front where you tilt the CD the picture on the front moves so all these eyes move into the centre (a white void). Also on the inside there is a picture of California. But if you move it, the whole state is flooded, and the waters go all the way up to Arizona (when Maynard is musing about Armageddon in the title track he says 'Learn to swim I'll see you down at Arizona bay') Theres also the reptilian eye with two pupil thingys in it, awesome cover art!
Korn were once had the hardcore image. Korn and Life Is Peachy are prime examples of the hardcore image. Music seems sorta hardcore-ish to me too, around that period mind you Everything went downhill after Follow The Leader was released, imo. They got big and was being played on MTV regulary, and made friends with Limpbizkit. Hardcore image + somewhat hardcore-ish sound = out the goddamn window. Untouchables didn't help their image, either. I can't say I blame them for get angrier and trying to get the hardcore-ish music and image back. After all the fans they lost on Untouchbles, they have a reason to be angry, IMO.
Why make a positive song? I mean, KoRn play that music, whoever doesn't like it can always listen to other, less angry bands. And about the TALITM cover, yeah, it's a bit hardcore-ish, but i don't think the songs follow this.
I think Korn cover art is pretty good. I can't believe I forgot about the new P.O.D. cover...it's kind of low-key but I think that's why I like it.
I received "Wonder What's Next" for Christmas. The front cover features what looks to be a glass of milk breaking. I realized on the back of the CD, there's an archer with a bow and arrow. Possibly he broke the glass? :wth: Meh, just some thoughts. I gotta say my favorite cover art are Linkin Park's albums though.
