Yeah, that's what felt kind of off about it at first. It doesn't necessarily make it a bad episode and it probably just comes down to not being used to the Christmas ones being like this, but it was more about characters than action. It was more like the sort of thing you'd get in the middle of a series. That said I think it was probably the best Christmas episode since the first one. Also http://i52.tinypic.com/2yzg9yh.jpg
Bump. I try to use this emoticon sparingly at the most, but .
James Corden's gonna be in it again this year. Meaning the thing I posted about his previous episode is looking even likelier.
Yeah, I wouldn't know. haha. I just got finished watching the 9th doctor with Christopher Eccleston. It was a pretty good season. I still find Matt Smith a better doctor though. Anywho! On to Series 10!
Eccleston's was a lot more classy and witty I think, while still having all the emotion Tennant's did. Tennant's really went for it emotionally but I don't think it was any better in that respect, not that I dislike it. The best part is Matt Smith's first scene. Here it is if you don't mind seeing it now... it shouldn't spoil TOO much. You kind of already know part of what happens if you've already seen the first Smith episode anyway. Having only gotten 20 minutes into the first episode of the second series. (I actually think I'm missing something, as I didn't watch any specials of the first series) I can already tell that I enjoy Christopher Eccleston a lot more. He was witty and elegant, and I don't know felt a bit Sherlock (haha) while on the other hand it feels like they're going for the strict-tough bad guy thing with Tennant which is... overused. That clip is great too. Though I do think Ecclestons regeneration was better. It was much more subtle and had just the right amount of emotion and humor without being cheesy or too dramatic. --- Semi~offtopic: So, is Torchwood any good?
If you mean the Christmas episode that he was in first, yeah. Tennant kind of goes between one extreme of being deadly serious and unforgiving, and the opposite, basically. Torchwood... I've seen maybe 10 episodes from the first two seasons. There, I would say when it's bad it's very bad and when it's good it's pretty solid. Children of Earth I've seen all of, and that's quite good throughout. Speaking of Sherlock... if you haven't seen the show of that name, watch it.
I quite disagree. The only reason I would say I liked 9th into 10th and disliked 10th into 11th is because I didn't like 9 and I loved 10 (TENnant :O, how weird :O). As for Torchwood, I like the grittiness of it. It's Doctor Who with less of the comedy and more of the Welsh-girls kissing alien girls action we all secretly desire. Children of Earth was mad fucked up but it was executed so well for such a mad fucked up mini-series.
I haven't seen any of the Christmas specials for any series. I went straight from Series One: 1x13 - The Parting of the Ways to Series Two:2x01 - New Earth. I just have an instinct that it seems they were going for tough guy. I hope I'm wrong though. --- I've also heard good things about Sherlock and have been meaning to check it out. My internet probably will go off tomorrow though so, I have to watch as much Doctor Who as I can for now. @MKH I still think Ecceleston's regeneration is better. Maybe it's because I haven't seen Tennant's in the context of the whole series two but, just I dunno. Christopher is top notch.
If you look up Matt Smith on the IMDB, he's Matt Smith XI. Also, I advise watching the Xmas episodes when you can because they kind of bridge the gaps between seasons, especially that one.
Yeah.. I think I sort of, guessed that as I do feel I'm missing something .. Matt Smith the 11th huh? Hmm.. He was just meant to play the 11th doctor it seems. (I don't believe in destiny but this is still cool, haha)
These may be the writers for this year: Episodes 1 & 2: Steven Moffat Episode 3: Steve Thompson Episode 4: Neil Gaiman Episodes 5 & 6: Matthew Graham Episode 7: Moffat -break- Episode 8: Moffat Episode 9: Mark Gatiss Episode 10: Richard Curtis Episode 11: Toby Whithouse Episode 12: Gareth Roberts Episode 13: Moffat http://www.anglotopia.net/doctor-wh...ies-six-news-casting-news-book-news-and-more/ So, the structure of the series has completely changed with there only being one two-part story by the look of it, and one at the beginning at that. The two new writers are Neil Gaiman who's a big comic/fantasy writer, and Steve Thompson who I think wrote an episode of Sherlock. Just to add, I think Richard Curtis is the only one who isn't confirmed. So if he isn't writing one this year I'm gonna assume that it'll be two episodes by Moffat at the end like usual. Also, apparently it starts around Easter again.
