Do you think they'll make another A Thousand Suns?

    Zing.

I think it's obvious they didn't care much about Living Things. They mailed it in big time and knew it was a throwaway effort. That's fine since it appeases the shallow fan base and gets them one step closer to the end of their contract. If they waited 4 or 5 years to put out such uninspired mediocrity I'd pretty much accept that they will suck for the rest of time. But they put it out in under 2 years, which makes me think they got this one out of the way as quickly as possible and that there's still some sort of creative drive waiting to resurface. Maybe once label pressure eases up (or no longer exists).

Well, I didn't like it. But I was so surprised by everything I heard, I love being surprised. LT didn't surprise me. I instantly fell in love with The Messenger though. When I mean another ATS. I don't mean another ATS, not a sequel. But another album that is different, weird and experimental. Something I'd have to get used to. I had to let ATS grow on me. I instantly liked LT because it was simple and easy to understand. With ATS I had to wrap my head around what I was hearing. I want to have that experience again. It doesn't need to sound like ATS, but it needs to have the same affect on me.

I'd love them to make another album with that frame of mind, and I hope they will. But I do not think that there will be an 'A Thousand Suns II'. Whatever album they bring out which is closest in style to A Thousand Suns will probably be nothing like A Thousand Suns.

To be honest, i'm feeling sorry for LP at the moment. No matter what they do, whatever album they bring out will not please ALL of their fanbase (generally, I don't mean every single person.. that would be impossible for any band). If they bring out another Nu Metal album (which they won't), the "old skool" fans who only listen to pre-2007 LP will rejoice, while the rest of the fanbase will groan and a few people will probably call them sellouts. If they bring out another album like ATS, or a concept album, all the Nu Metal fans will groan and complain, and the rest of the fans will be happy, but will be comparing it to ATS, and if it isn't good enough, they'll have a good old moan too. What LP were trying to do with LT is bridge the gap betweeen both set of fans, trying to please the ones of want SCREAMZ and shit, the ones who want experimental shit and the ones who don't give a fuck what they do, as long as it's good. That didn't really work, because all the Nu Metal fans called it "too electronic" and all the other fans thought it was good, but the earlier songs were too "bland and repetitive." Let me just say here, I don't mean everyone, i'm just generalising here so you get the general idea of what i'm trying to say. So now.. I think they've just thought "fuck it" and done what they've wanted to do for a while and go full on-electronic. I'm not sure if the next album or the Mall Soundtrack will be electronic, but hey-ho, what with the collabs with Steve Aoki and DJ Fresh, that what it seems like to me.
