We should start a petition to get him to direct their next video. I don't know how Joe would take that though haha.
Probably not so well, haha. Maybe they will go back to him at some point. The thing is, if there is a consistent theme to this album and they want to carry that over to the videos I can see them preferring Joe to directors from outside the band for the time being, for better or for worse. Then again, they've had other artists help them with the album art. I dunno.
Don't see anything wrong with another director stepping in, as long as the band make their vision clear. At least a collaborative effort would be cool, like with the artwork.
Joe could co-direct the video, or at least oversee it. But Mark is really, really clear and sure about what he wants, so I don't know how a collaborative effort would work. He's amazing though. The sound of ATS (as it's been described) would seem to work really well with Mark's vision.
I love Mark Romanek 'cause he's so diverse. His videos are just all over the place. Dude could work with anyone.
Absolutely. The thing about this album is that LP has a really specific way of presenting it. If Joe is really too busy with the tour (which is completely possible), Mark could be presented with the artwork, and they could explain everything. Then, wow, an awesome video is made. But.... videos aren't really what they were, since this decade began - I mean the use of the medium itself. A lot of people behind the business and label won't be for it, I guess. So it'll be hard convincing ex-music video directors (if you will) to get them coming back in. Lol, this never ends, does it.
I don't think there would be anything wrong with them using a director from outside the band either, but it's possible they will think their vision will be safer with someone from inside the band.
I feel like Kazuto Nakazawa and Joe Hahn would be a good choice for "Waiting for the End". I think an animated video would work well, from what I heard. Mike, if you're reading this, please consider proposing this idea to Joe and everyone in the band.
Ridley Scott should go back to making sci-fi and team up with Linkin Park for a video like Breaking The Habit.
Not to sound arrogant but I'd like to try my own hand at directing an LP video as I believe I have a lot of great ideas. I use to post a lot of my own storyboards for how I would make an LP video when I first joined. One's for HHH, Shadow of the Day and I believe Bleed it out.
