Deb didn't poison herself, it's much too risky as she has no way at all to know when/how she is going to pass out or even if she'd survive at all and Hannah's friend isn't smart enough, has no motive to poison Debra. Hannah didn't poison Deb either.

What is more likely is that Hannah told Arlene to poison Debra and she screwed up which would make everything I just said true. Hannah wouldn't have directly poisoned Debra, Arlene too stupid to do the job and Debra not willing to risk poisoning herself. It would also make what Hannah said to Dex true, she never makes mistakes when she poisons someone.

I'm 100% convinced this is the answer.

@ Gan considering my post, including the "spoiler" : you`ve said it yourself, if it has aired, it isn`t considered a spoiler. the Preview for the Finale has aired, so no Spoiler there, according to your own rules ;)

btt: I think Deb poisoned herself to get rid of Hannah. Would make sense, considering the last Conversation between Deb and Hannah.

Nobody knew Deb was taking that stuff. And Deb didn't really have to black out. All she'd have to do is chug that water, crash her car, and tell everyone she blacked out. Nobody is going to question if she really blacked out or not. There's no risk of dying that way like there is if you actually made yourself black out while driving.

Didn't she have an army injury? I doubt Deb would do that... We'll see though. I'm convinced she didn't do it though, it's just too obvious if she did, that would be horrible writing.

I, personally, just don't see Deb risking her own life like that just to get rid of Hannah. She has on multiple occasions stated how important it was for her and Dexter to stick together because they're family. That is just out of Deb's character to drug herself

You're not risking your life if you control all of it. Drug yourself, crash your car on purpose, say you blacked out. Though the car was fucking wrecked so going that overboard on a crash would be stupid. Nothing the writers come up with will make sense.

She couldn't have crashed her car on purpose after drugging herself, that's much too dangerous. What, she'd intentionally break her arm too? Yeah, no. The reaction to the drug was stated to be nigh instantaneous, wasn't it? No offense, but I'm just going to officially say that Deb drugging herself is the most bullshit ever.

    I agree with Zane.

So somebody went into her house and put that drug in every water bottle she had just to make sure she drank it? A drug that nobody but Dexter really knew about.

Deb has recently discovered how in depth her brother gets when trying to uncover things. Hannah coming over that night could have set her plan in motion. She knew Dexter would find the water bottle and learn that Hannah paid her a visit.

This is way more likely than someone else drugging her, but both scenarios seem stupid. There's no way Hannah would do that, and Deb should have assumed that Dexter would also question if she poisoned herself. Somehow that didn't even cross his mind though. And someone else poisoning her makes even less sense.

I think Hannah's friend drugging Deb is the most likely chance and it makes perfect sense. She has already stated that she is close with Hannah and is unwilling to rat her out. However, she also knows that if she says nothing, Deb will put her in jail. Then, it makes a lot of sense for her to just get rid of Deb in order to save herself. The writers clearly injected this scene for the pure reason of setting this entire plot up. The poisoning of Deb's bottle with her own prescription is a simple plot that could have been done by Hannah's friend. It would make no sense for Hannah to do it since it's not her style. Deb is a police chief and understands the ridiculousness and possibility of overdose of drugging one's self. Also, Dexter has already shown how it was possible for someone to come in to Deb's house. Her porch door is wide open and unlocked and her medicine drawer contained the prescription medicine. It was just an anti-depressant. An average day drug.

Well I was wrong about Arlene but I was right about Deb.

There was no way Deb would poison herself, since it would be too risky. It would make any fucking sense.
I guess Hannah purposefully made a mistake to appear sloppy try to convince Dexter that she was unlikely to have did it, which makes much more sense than Deb knowingly drinking highly dangerous poison that can knock you out or kill you in a matter of minutes to get in a car, to drive into a ditch and break her arm.

Though I have to say they missed the ball, they could have had Arlene poison Debra on Hannah's orders and everything would have fit together nicely.

Loved the finale, one of the most suspenseful episodes of the whole show. I have to say though, I feel like the Hannah situation in this episode could've been done better. Seemed a little rushed and too fakish.

I was really hoping she'd shoot Dexter. I may be in the small minority of fans that want Dexter to rot in jail for all his wrong doing.
