Gothic rock doesn't have to be heavy or fast to be Gothic. Lacuna Coil isn't fast, they're just heavy. It's the main themes of the songs that make them Gothic. You keep assuming that I'm calling them Gothic because Amy Lee is Gothic, and that's completely false and really, really ignorant for you to think.

Umm...then once again, what makes Evanecence gothic?

Doesn't she sing about her feelings? How can that be gothic? If that were true every band would be gothic wouldn't they?

I'm not trying to be mean, but I think you just want them to be gothic music, or they consider themselves that.

No. It's the themes behind the lyrics. None of the songs are about her feelings. The only song that has any real emotion in it (meaning a personal experience) is "My Immortal," and Ben wrote that about a childhood friend. The hidden meanings behind the lyrics are what makes them Gothic. You said that you don't really like them that much, but I like them a lot and have researched them alot. Alot of the lyrics of their songs have Gothic underpinnings, and it's really hard to explain it.

Sorry Will, but i'm with Bryan here. I mean, ok, the subjects anbd lyrics of the songs are gothic. But what does the MUSIC have to do with it? Even the fact that Amy's pics on the booklet make people think they are goth make them a bit of posers (no offence, i still like their songs ;) )

I give up. You people are all ignorant.

And Amy Lee really is Gothic. The rest of the band isn't, but she is.

Since this went way off-topic, I'm going to close it and start a new thread. I know it's my fault this thread went off-topic (I think), but please try to stay on topic in the new thread. Thanks.
