Mike and Chester are really different to be honest. Mike is versatile and pretty good with everything, while Chester is AMAAAAAAAAZING (i cannot stress that enough) vocalist, but with many other stuff (except lyrics), he's not as good as mike.
Even though I really like Chester's voice in Linkin Park, I would go with Fort Minor. It's hard to pick since Dead by Sunrise is great too, but if I have to compare I would rather listen to The Rising Tied than Out of Ashes album.
Aside from a few songs, I felt Dead By Sunrise was a bit of a "Let Down". I really was expecting so much out of that record, but I really don't think it's Chester at his finest. Julien K really hinders the sound a bit, and it became a hugely generic rock record. On the other hand, I feel Fort Minor is definitely some of Mike's best work, with only a couple songs (Feel Like Home and Back Home) that I could have really done without.
I'm still a big Fort Minor fan, though I definitely acknowledge that a fair few of the songs aren't great. I didn't mind "Out Of Ashes" ... but, for me, it got old really fast.
Cigarrettes is another I would add to the list. Those two and the one I named are the only ones I don't know the lyrics to on The Rising Tied. I don't get caught up on them. Out of Ashes, I know it from head to toe. Highlights from it to me are Walking in Circles and In The Darkness. I had Into You on my head for a long time but if I had to choose I'd go with the first two.
I like 'em both, but for different reasons. Fort Minor is stuff I'll listen to when I'm in one of those "fuck yeah" kinda moods; it's music you can jam out to. DBS, on the other hand, seems more depressing to me. It's good to listen while you're having a bad day, anyway
Fort Minor was a surprise because of how good it was, DBS was a surprise because of how underwhelming it was.
Fort Minor. I still bump that album to this day. Out Of Ashes was lame to me outside a few tracks. Coulda been better.
I definitely play FM a lot more. SOB contribute to The Rising Tied so well, and make it a pretty solid album. SOB, Mike and beats overseen by Jay makes for a good combination. I also agree with others who say Cigarette and Back Home get avoided. Compared to the rest, they're boring and the beats aren't up to scratch. I liked Out of Ashes, but I can't remember the last time I listened to a group of songs from it in a row. In The Darkness, Walking In Circle and End of The World stand out for mine.
