I've seen Aoki live for 2 times and the guy is great, but I agree that on this song the beat is average.
The whole track is average, but not bad.

Though, Imo, much better than ALTNC. I like darker songs. lol

I got to hear the song for the first time earlier through the stream. It's nice. :)

You all told me not to look at comments, but facebook happened to recommend an EDM page for me to 'like', so I went on the page, first story i see is about LPxAoki. The general opinion is that LP is a good band when it comes to trying new things, and the general impression is that DTB is a decent track.

One guy said he thought Steve Aoki was LP's regular DJ and wasn't sure why there was such a fuss they're doing a song together

    Ok, that wasn't very good.
The only good thing about the live version was the second verse where the beat changes before "Higher that they climb...", which was interesting, but here the beat is the same during the whole verse...
And Mike's singing during the bridge is laughably bad.

The drop might not be the most unique thing ever, but I gotta say I really dig the instrumentation during the chorus, especially the first one. It somehow is dark, which I like. Also, that final chorus intensity is great.

Mike's ahhhh's in the bridge were so corny they sounded a long lost piece of that cringeworthy LPUXIV Breaking The Habit demo.

I'm glad I never hyped myself up for this one. It's better than ALTNC, but that's not saying very much.

I noticed that they layered Chester's "oh"'s over Shinoda's "ah"'s ... which I think is kind of stupid

That one sounds very auto-tune to me, that's why I don't like it that much. Sounds like it could fit into a generic pop song on the radio.

The song is ok I guess. It's not bad, quite catchy.
Though I'm usually not too huge on EDM stuff I can dig this.

Sure is gonna suck when Mike decides he wants to do more of this in light of THPs comparative failure sales wise.

Ludricrous statement, considering THP was not made with sales goals in mind. The band knew THP likely wouldn't sell well, and they knew it wouldn't be a chart topper because the kind of music they made wasn't in line with other poppy or more accessible music currently on the radio. They knew this, and they said they expected it would be a 'tough sell' prior to the album's release. They've continued to go on and say that since then. Everyone in the band was on board with the risk, and nobody was expecting it to be a smash pop hit. The fact it even hit #3 surprised them and made them feel good because it meant more people supported it than they expected.

If the band cared about album sales, they wouldn't have made an album that was basically commercial suicide (considering hard rock is practically dead right now).

All that aside, I have a feeling newer material will be leaning more towards this (like he was "going to do before").

I thought the Mike bridge was the best part lol. A rap or some lyrical content would have been better, but it was still interesting at least. I can hardly pick apart what is Chester and what is Mike in this song, it sounds like they both sang at the same time and it's fading between the two or something. And there's so much vocoder/effects. Not complaining though, it complements the instrumental.
