I'm getting confused now. So is Eminem a member of D12, or WAS a member of D12, or just a guy who loves to hang around them?
D12 was started before Eminem's career, kind of like St. Lunatics started before Nelly. But, after not being able to get a record deal, the members started working on solo projects and soon both Eminem and Nelly were signed. How hard is it to understand? If Eminem is singing "My Band" what do you think that means? Because he's now the leader, he considers it a side project, but they have been together now for quite awhile. Just a note: Nearly all the members of D12 have done solo work, but D12 is their major release because of Eminem's popularity. If radio stations are stilling claiming the song as "Feat. Eminem" it's because of the dumb public who can't figure it out the first time. :wth: I'm not calling you guys dumb though, some of you are just confused, but a lot of people out there are seriously stupid.
D12 was originally going to be 12 rappers from detroit, they couldn't find 12 they thought were good enough, only 7 (proof, slim, bugz, bizzare, swifty, kuniva and kon artist). Slim decided he wasnt going to officially be a member of the group and only appear on a few tracks on the album when they got signed (this was before slim shady lp [1999]), his underground record 'Infinite' reached the ears of Dr. Dre and Slim was signed to Aftermath/Interscope. One of the original members of D12 (Bugz) was shot and killed and there were officially only 5 members left. Slim asked if he could take his place as the 6th member and the group agreed. So there were now 6 again, they figured 6 Detroit rappers X 2 personalities = D12. I hope that made sense to someone. That's like the cliffnote version, I think there's a MTV article with the complete story.
