This is such a different route for the band. They are usually much more inclined to be grandiose with the artwork, to the point of sometimes being over the top. This is simple, beautiful, and evocative. No need for any text on it, just let the image linger. I love it. If the music is good, I'll definitely get this on vinyl.
I'm getting MTM part 2 vibes personally but with more experimentation. I've been thinking about this too. This is album #7 and they are getting old (for music standards). A lot of bands don't even make it 7 albums. I think it's more telling of direction of the band but I wouldn't be surprised if they are done soon. I think during THP I predicted that I could see them being done after 3 more albums and I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Or end at 10 albums, because 10 seems like a perfect number. I'm getting MTM part 2 vibes personally but with more experimentation.
Not gonna lie: one of the reasons why I want this album to be good is because I want to get it on vinyl and spin the shit out of it.
Derek confirmed their is no text on the album cover Some of the best albums of all time have been self-titled
Yep, that's in my top 3 albums of all times. Was actually listening to I Miss You when typing that out
I actually hope it's self-titled. Who knows though, people thought Radiohead's new album would be self titled but the name was revealed only when the album actually released.
It's just something I really wouldn't expect from LP. I always expect graphic art or a monochrome photo.
I didn't say other people's opinions are wrong. I even asked what are you seeing so great about this cover. And after that I gave MY opinion, which is a fact to me. It's awesome that for the major part this cover is great, though. But I don't have the same opinion/likes.
Like I said before, that's fine. But I think the way you worded it made peeps roll their eyes a bit. But thanks for the clearing the slight misunderstanding. Moving on, am I the only one who'd be interested in seeing Linkin Park do a synthwave song?
I hope the band can continue to make new records in the future. I hope this is not true that they're done after this.
You literally cannot call this photo an instagram quality photo. If you had any knowledge at all about this shit, you really wouldn't be spouting that bs. This wasn't some photo taken on an iPhone by some teenage girl with some dumb preset filter slapped on it to make it look "cool." There's thought and meaning behind it, and care and patience put into it. Its not the band's fault you can't appreciate this kind of art.
No title on the cover art lets it speak for itself. Seems like their most personal album yet, can't wait for them to share it with us.
"Its just a shitty iphone filter with a shitty filter" is not just an opinion; it's you trying to assert a clearly wrong fact.
