Let's have a fun talk about conspiracy theories in music, your views of how right or wrong they are, if they should exist or not and how they undermine the image of an artist or even the album sales of that artist. You can cite examples of famous conspiracy theories and we can discuss them.
Never heard of that one. Avril Lavigne died in 2003 and was replaced by a look-alike named Melissa Vandella that started writing and singing songs instead of her. Fans still go crazy nowadays on her instagram and facebook accounts saying, you're not Avril, you're dead or it's Melissa. Good one to have a laugh, she just changed her sound a bit in every album and sung differently as well. In her case I think it clearly undermined her album sales because every time she does anything people are bitchin' about that, you can take a look just to laugh. Another one I've heard is that Paul McCartney is dead. In Paul's case it did no harm to The Beatles album sales as they are the band that has sold more records ever worldwide.
Kanye sacrificed his mom to become a superstar Kanye has the ability to float Jay and Beyonce's baby is a demon child Beyonce post-Destiny's Child is actually a clone Pharrell only looks as young as he does because the Illuminati either gave him powers or fed him the blood of the most healthy people Beyonce had Aaliyah murdered in the plane crash so she could have room to become a superstar Eminem's Recovery album was about his battle with the Illuminati AND I'm not making these up. Someone at my old job told me these things and acted like I was crazy for doubting him.
I had put it in Living Room because I thought of it as a funny topic, not some serious talking about other music.
Funny topics mainly belong in "Random Chat", for future reference. Anyway, conspiracy theories, at least the extreme ones, don't undermine careers. Artists and labels have used things like that to market music for decades now because mystery and controversy can really build hype
Marilyn Manson getting his lower rib(s) removed to better facilitate sucking his own dick is a classic.
All of them are hard to believe, but some look true when we look at the "facts" that are presented in those theories.
