I fully understand that, I was more or less addressing the "why doesn't Chester sound like this in LP songs" question. I'm not knocking Chester for borrowing Scott's style because, let's face it, fans of STP would want/expect that sound out of the band.
The only track in that live performance that I feel was truly missing Scott was Trippin Through A Hole In A Paper Heart. That song was practically written for Scott's range and Chester as a result doesn't sound quite right singing it. He still fucking ROCKED the other tracks.
This sure came out of the blue. Liking the song but the whole situation with Weiland is really weird (from what I've read so far). The "ticket sales" part bothers me a lot.
^ The plot thickens! But, to wind up in promo photos, I think he'd at least have to be singing on the majority of the new songs
Talk about news coming out of fucking nowhere. I'm not even a fan of STP, but this sounds like it could work. It's also a dream come true for Chester, so kudos to him!
Exactly. Paying for a promo shoot for one photo would be a waste of time and stupid as fuck. Not to mention this is the new "single". "Hey guys, Chester only sings on ONE track but lets make that the single and put him in promo pics and have him play with us live to confuse EVERYONE". Yeah, doesn't make sense.
I propose that there should be an "out of nowhere" smiley. Joe will understand this video:
Dear Slash, You need to get this man (Chester) in a reformed Velvet Revolver NOW! Love, My ear drums.
Between these two posts and all the people who have never heard of Stone Temple Pilots before, I think I just headdesked so hard that it caused a moderate earthquake in western Australia. Chester's not leaving LP, and STP doesn't sound ANYTHING like the putrid shit currently inhabiting modern rock stations (Volbeat, Theory of a Deadman, Hinder...).
STP has an awesome new singer! I got to see them play last night and they killed it! You might know this guy... pic.twitter.com/H4j7QSB5sx https://twitter.com/phoenixlp/status/336151361269944320 Sounds like Chester replaces Weiland.
wow awesome stuff. "out of Time" sounds pretty good on first listen. Not a big STP fan, but their style is pretty good. Also, I gotta say, I dislike how this thread has turned into a Dead By Sunrise bash fest. Sure,"Out of Ashes" is a flawed album, but it really doesn't deserve the hate it gets. To say something like "I'd be happy to never here another DBS record again" is pretty disrespectful for Chester IMO. Am i the only one?
I personally wouldn't mind another DBS record, but only if they keep it a different style from what Julien-K has.
I'm totally cool with Chester pumping out more of these straight up rock-heavy tunes, let it be with STP or some other group.
