I'm not arguing about my warning for my 'joke', but I sure hope Marj, Duffy & Twitch got warned for making their joke too. If Cassie & I got warned for saying something like that, why not them? They did it too.

Casey has a point. The reason I warned Casey was because he started the joking, and the reason I warned Cassie was because she lashed out at Will.

But to not warn the other people who made jokes would be showing favoritism and would be unfair. So therefore, anyone who made a joke before I yelled at Casey and Cassie will have to receive a warning too, I'm sorry.

All of you guys never had warnings before, so it wont push you to get banned but the fact of the matter is, we have to come down hard on this. From this point forward, any ethic or inhumane jokes will not be tolerated on here. We have to respect the minds of all of our members who post here, as some of our members are under the age of 13. We cannot risk being responsible for introducing young kids to offensive material and thus is the reason why I had to warn the rest of you.

I respect you all, but when we had racist jokes two years back, I warned everyone involved then. It would simply be not right if I didn't scold everyone who contributed to the offensiveness of that thread.

I hope you all can understand.

All I have to say is 'harsh'. But whatever, if that has to be done to keep the forum in order, then let it be.

Cassie, so have you left us or have you decided to come back?

Why on earth is that harsh? They followed suit in my 'joke'. It's only fair.

Look, I agree with the point that if we have much of a problem with the forum rules, we should leave. When we subscribe, we're agreeing to follow the rules or risk being banned. And I think the LPA is certainly one of the better forums on the internet (that I've run into anyway) and the staff do their jobs well...

But--correct me if I'm wrong--one of the problems with the jokes in the "Man Eats Man" thread was that it broke the "Keep it Clean" Rule:
Well, it seems to me that rule is more or less ignorned by everyone, staff included. I notice certain four-letter words are no longer censored, though the rule still stands, and I see "fuck" from staff and members alike (myself included, so I'm certainly not a perfect rule follower). But it's technically against the rules. But what I'm saying is that it sends a mixed message.

I heard from a little fairy that it was an over-whelming staff vote to abolish the filter.

It had nothing to do with my constant bitching about the filter. Nope. No sir. :chemist:

I'm sorry you find it harsh, but you weren't even involved in the joking according to the list Casey gave.

Yes the decision was hard, but if we didn't do the same appropriate actions that we did a year or two ago, we'd still have black jokes running rampant on the forums. And furthermore, that thread almost is making fun of Mexican people so it could slightly be taken as a racist joke in itself.

It was a hard decision to make but I had to do it dude. I love these forums too much to allow offensive stuff to run rampant on it,

You obviously only read up to harsh and you stopped reading eh?

I thought the 'fuck' was censored before?

And I agree with Whimsicality, LPA is definately one of the better forums that the staff actually bother to do their job.

Well, that, and we had a poll of all the forum members who wanted it removed.

I still don't know where the mods stand on the "No swearing" rule.

I'm guessing you overlooked my post where I said "I guess we never removed that one." We couldn't care less about swearing.

I didn't overlook your post. I didn't know if you meant that literally you forgot it was in there and it didn't count anymore, or in more of a "Haha yeah right you're an idiot" way.

I'd like to thank you for pointing that out a few posts ago.

The swear filter was removed by unanimous approval from the staff and about a 35-5 margin in favor majority in a member poll, about 2 months ago. We made an announcement about it, and undoubtedly you've seen us all (including forum members) swear in the last 2 months. We support what the members support; no swear filter.

But I just revised that rule you pointed out, that was amistake on my behalf for not removing that part of rule 8. It's been revised. Thanks.

Well, the staff's view on it is that some swearing can be allowed in posts. We just prefer if people dont abuse the new privelidge and drop 100 F bombs in one post. That's all we ask.

Also, as you can see some words are still censored regardless. Racist, homophobic or discriminating words still cant be used on these forums.
