I was jamming to the new record for one week or so when it came out, but I haven't really cared about it since then.

It was a fun trip down the 2000's memory lane, it is not terrible, but it is not great either. A few really good songs among averages ones. The ones I remember are Youtopia, Kool Aid, Limousine, and Amen. Not a fan of the rest.

Survival Horror was and still is a freaking banger though.

Edit : "Dark Side" was also alright

Kinda disagree here. Sure its not on the level of Survival Horror, but songs like LosT, Top 10 statues, bullet with my name on or n/A are pretty good too imo . Also Strangers isnt too bad.

Those other songs actually were fine but they didn't give me that "this is awesome" punch in the face, unfortunately.

Youtopia, I really like a lot though. It has that eerie Deftones atmosphere - reminescent of something like Be Quiet and Drive - and I'm all there for it.

Maybe it's because they released six (?) singles over the course of 3 years for this record, but it just had zero replayability for me. Agreed Youtopia is a banger and Darkside is fire, but the rest of the album just double's down on the band's edginess that I can't stand and the transitions between tracks are a drag when you just want to shuffle them into a playlist. People complain about the amount of interludes on A Thousand Suns but it was a masterstroke of genius to keep them separated on the tracklist for that very reason.

Survival Horror was AOTY and had me wondering if Linkin Park hypothetically could've channeled a similar sound back in 2020. This was very underwhelming by comparison.
