I don't think he lied. Either he changed his mind or it was out of his control.

Thinking about it now, we do take everything they say very seriously...Not just LP, but any band you're a big fan of. I mean, think about all the things over the past few years you've said you wouldn't do that you ended up deciding was a good idea after all...I'm rambling now, sorry.[/b][/quote]
I vote for out of his control. Personally, I can't see how he would've changed his mind about the whole ordeal.

He did write the song too, didn't he? It just doesn't really make any sense that he changed his mind.

it just makes me question how much power a band has over its own songs... it's so depressing how everything is always about the money... :( and it's not just linkin park... everyone... sad.

Eh...Breaking The Habit doesn't seem like it would be a very good song live...

I still think Chester may have said it just to throw people off..

Funny you should say that because I was just thinking along those lines. I haven't had a chance to read any transcripts of the chat but it'd be interesting to see in what context the comment was made.

Oh wow...Mike should do somthing about this, maybe we all can actually. Maybe we could email WB?Nah nvmnd they won't answer it...good Idea I guess but they won't listen. As much as I want Breaking The Habit to be a single, I'd rather do as Mike wishes. If WB doesn't respect that, then I don't respect them....

WB is stupid. The last thing they want is LP to tell them to f*ck off and sign with another company when the contract expires, and LP is a huge money maker for them regardless of the single thats out. They should not force LP to release a certain song as a single, especially one that is so personal to the band and the band members don't want to be a single.

Don't you think that Mike may have had a say in it? I'm not sure the big networks are THAT dumb...but I've been wrong before.

When I hear this news, I have some struggles in my heart. Firstly, I think BTH is a good song and I like it. Secondly, I feel sorry for Mike as he's said that he doesn't want this song to be a single, but now WB forces the band to release a song that they don't wanna. I really don't understand why WB force the band to do sth that they don't like? They have the rights to choose which song to be released as they write the songs, not WB, right? So I think WB has no right to do sth like this to the band just thinking that this single will be as popular as In The End (<-- though I know that it will be a fact). Can the record company give more freedom to the band and allow them to do whatever they want? If WB continues to do sth like this, the band will probably sign another company, then as a result, who will be the biggest loser? WB definitely.

You guys are all assuming the WB forced Breaking the Habit to be a single. You guys don't know ####. Maybe LP (including Mike) wanted to make it the next single.

Be happy that BTH will be the next single because I remember that most of you wanted BTH to be a single and now that its going to happen you're bitching about it. Let LP and WB do their work because they damn know what they're doing.

And you're assuming all of us are thinking one way .

I'm not assuming or blaming the band or the label. But I think it's right for me to "b*tch" when I feel it's wrong, in my opinion. I personally don't think it should have been released because of personal reasons.

I honestly think you didn't have to swear, but eh, whatever.

    - The majority of the people who posted assumed that WB forced LP to make BTH the next single.

    - I respect all of your opinions

    - I swore because I wanted to express anger

    - Yes I'm angry cuz I listen to rap

    Both.

Not only that I've heard things from Mike, but the song does impact me in a way I'd rather not express seeing it might be considered something worse than it should be .

    ...

Bah, nevermind. Yep, I so believe Breaking the Habit would make everyone happy and millions .

 I still cant beleave that BTH is the next single. I see that most of the people are going crazy around here and were getting alot of mixed feelings and everything so I think Iam going to keep my mouth shut on this thread for a while :D but one thing I just want to say is maby Mike changed his mind and thought that Linkin Park could express this song as a video amazingly. Stop feeling sorry for Mike and Stop blaming WB, wait untill you hear the whole story then blame and feel sorry for who ever you want but for now lets all just be happy that Breaking The Habbit will be the next single because Iam sure LP is happy, they love to make videos :D my mouth is now shut :shifty:

Yeah I dont know what to make of this situation.....on the one hand I love the song and it IS personal to me and others, but on the other hand, I really dont want those pop teenies singing it or something, cause that angers me. I just dont know what to make of it.

Personally, I never wanted Breaking the Habit to be a single due to the fact that Mike obviously thought of it as something personal to him. I can't see him exploiting something he was against, you know? Chester could've also said it just to be the weird little man that he is, since he's known to do that. I'm just kinda.. I don't know. I never wanted it to be a single, that's all.
