fair play to you man - LP kinda dont stick to the rules in their videos though edit it came to my attention when watching BTH (in the second verse) that theres a pregnant woman - then a short shot of a needle - the it goes back to the woman holding her stomach, and she is crying? has anyone else seen this? or is it just me and my friend? if it is so - iam glad LP have dared to face such a strong subject head on and put it in one of their videos
Hmmm... Nah, the needle is the druggie guy dude's drugs. You know, the one with the suitcase. He's the druggie. Puts another meaning to "Breaking The Habit" I guess... And the woman with the pregnant stomach... I see it as shes holding the baby and upset that she's pregnant with that cheating guy's kid. That's all. Nice observation, by the way.

i understood everything about the needle guy and the pregnant woman but i still don't know what's that ''i'm nothing'' girl doing on the video... chester's girlfriend or something?
Did you see the girl on the bed with the man? I think it's the same girl Can you tell me with few words about the needle guy and the pregnant woman? I dont understood anything :wth:
well, these two stories are completely irrelevant to each other.the first is about a guy addicted to drugs(i think) and the other is about a pregnant girl being cheated by her boyfriend(or something).that's why she's throwing the tomatoes to him.got it?
Maybe he was doing what the song said and "Breaking the habit". So when time went forward again he didn't do what he usually would have done because he had broken his habit and changed the future.

Nah, the girl on the bed has long hair, and the cutter/suicidal person has short hair... and rather poofy 80's hair, if you ask me... but hey, that's anime for you For some strange reason, the room that the drug-filled suitcase is in reminds me alot of the room that the preggie walks into and finds her husband/boyfriend cheating. Since I'm such a deep thinker and just always tend to look for symbolism, I see it as you think of your bedroom as your haven, your safe place. Drugs tend to ruin that, and cheating kinda messes up your "perfect" life too... So, I think that the only thing those two have in common is that even the simplest, stupidest things can totally change their life. I look too deeply into things sometime.
so in a nutshell, im just gonna try to put everyones observations into one deal here, and add a few of my own storyline: ---the video has a couple different storylines. there is one cutter, one druggie, and one person cheating on his wife/girlfriend. they all have a habit that they need to break, hence "breaking the habit". chester is sort of the ultamatum (spell check?) of that, when he jumps off the building and kills himself. this is the pessimistic side of actually breaking a habit: killing yourself. hence, "i dont know how i got this way/ill never be alright/so im breaking the habit tonight". --- i dont think anyone has really figured out why its played backwards midway through... but my theory is that its a cooler way of showing cause and effect. instead of showing it in the logical order of something happening, and the result of that, it goes in the reverse. it shows the result of something happening, before it actually happens. symbols: --big twirly thing at the beginning: i have no idea what the hell this is. if anyone figures it out, post it here. this is probably really important though... ---gears: the internal gears of a person. what decides right and wrong. i dunno thats my speculation of it. ---fog/mist: the spirit leaving the body. once chester dies, then his spirit leaves and kinda observes all of these people probably doing the things he does... i dunno hard to figure out. but i do think its his spirit. ---the birds - no idea what this is either... the one thing that kinda struck me about that whole end is that everyone in the band is sort of lifeless, and the last part just looks like a picture. the birds somehow fit into that, but not sure how. conclusion: i think this video is a great portrayal of the song. i remember when everyone was arguing what this song was about, ie, drugs, cutting, suicide. well this video really sums it up. the song could be about any habit people have to break. it just shows what happens when worst comes to worst, which is what the song is about. the song isnt about the habit you have to break, its about what you do to break that habit.

thats a good point i'm too dense and the version i saw was messed up enough that i cant make any deep observations
its a performance scene... it doesnt need to follow the rest of the video. not that hard to understand. so the storyline of the video, including the backwards scene, and the performance scene are two different things.
