I can't wait for ''Buried'' tonight. We will finally see if those spoilers turn out to be true or false. Should be a great episode, a little less than a half hour to go. EDIT: Wow... FANTASTIC episode... Obviously the spoilers were all false. I'm happy. This episode completely blew me away..
As big as my defense of Skyler was, she is now becoming Skysenberg. That scene where she talks to Walt about how Hank has suspicions "but not much else"? That wasn't protecting the family. That was plotting. Interesting twist.
SPOILERS BELOW This was just an awesome, crazy episode. I am beginning to like Skyler a lot more. I'm glad she didn't cave into Hank and especially when Marie slapped her and tried to take Holly. No one knows what to do right now and I love it. Jesse is a obvious mess. Saul is basically just trying to help Walt and be on his goodside so he doesn't ''send him to Belize''. When Walt passed out before getting in the shower, that was crazy. It's never really clear whether or not he believes that Skyler didn't tell Hank anything, at the beginning of the episode, he thinks she turned on him, when she did the exact opposite. The character I dislike the most now is Lydia. I can see what she is doing. Killing off Declan and his crew was insane, and of coarse it had to be Todd and the neo nazi's. I'm starting to maybe think that the M-60 is for Todd and the nazi's.. I'm not sure if I like that, but we will see. They could have got rid of Declan and his crew so that Todd can cook up his own product for them without worry, but I have a feeling they will try and force Walt or Jesse to cook with a threat. It's also obvious the White household gets abandoned, but I'm now interested to see how that will come into play. Will Skyler and the kids flee with Walt? I can't see Skyler turning on Walt at this point, after this episode. I also can't see Todd turning on Walt and killing his family, which is the only way I think Skyler could die at this point unless she kills herself. Ughh. The last scene was crazy, too. I wonder what Hank will say to Jesse, or what Jesse will say to Hank. The preview for next week's episode seems to get even crazier, with Saul screaming ''I never would have agreed to this if I knew what he was going to do!''.
Fuck yes Skysenberg, was really hoping they'd just have her end up that way for the last few episodes.
Thought tonight's episode dragged on a little bit, but obviously it was all important for setting up the next moves. Very excited for the interview between Jesse and Hank. That should be intense!
Skyler is honestly my favorite character right now. It could change, but right now she's my favorite. Jesse as a close second.
After watching the last ep I have a feeling that Jesse will team up with Hank to bring Walt down. Can't say where the character of Skyler is going tbh... so now she's all up for saving Walt all of a sudden. Didn't she say she can't wait for his cancer to come back? What happened between that and this last ep that changed her mind so drastically? /end
Her kids won't get the money if Walt goes down, essentially making the entire experience for nothing. Plus Skylar's always been sort of a conniving bitch anyway.
Yeah well I don't see Skylar that way. Besides fucking Teddy boy, all her decisions were to save her family and Walt. Seeing her get all Skysenberg seems unearned and out of character. I hope I'm proven wrong.
It's for the good of the colony! Decent episode, whilst it wasn't crazy, it definitely sets us up for a nice follow up next week. Time had better fly.
I see it this way: A month has passed since Walt has stopped making meth. In that time, the family and their marriage has sort of managed to regain normality. They've been laundering money and everything has been going well. Now, Hank wants to undo all of it. Skyler figures that Hank has no evidence, so for now they just stay quiet and don't admit anything. She, like Walt, doesn't want everything they've done to have been for nothing. They both are living in a bit of an illusion that, since it's in the past now, it doesn't have to matter.
She conned Walts old carwash owner into selling to her by havign Sauls guy convince him he'd be forced to do costly renovations, and refused to go to the police based on her divorce lawyers advice to spare her kids the knowledge of what Walt had been up to. This part of Skylar had always been there, and it was by and large because of her desire to protect her children. Same way now; she's as big a villian as she's ever been and realizes if Walt goes down, her childrens money is gone too. The only thing she's changed is her attitude about Walt himself, but it can just as easily be argued she still doesn't necessarily care about him and is just helping him run out the clock so the one person who can be proven guilty has essentially gotten away, leaving her and her family with the spoils.
On Talking Bad, Anna Gunn said that Skyler still cares for Walt deep down. It's obvious she still loves him, even though she hates what he is doing and everything. She is mainly doing this to protect the kids and their future, but it's not like she absolutely hates Walt and doesn't care what happens to him. She may have said she was waiting for the cancer to come back, but I think when Walt decided to leave the meth business and she see's him staying out of it (when he told Lydia at the car wash that he wasn't returning), she started to feel differently. Just my opinion.
The only thing I don't like is Jesse. I just don't buy that he's this depressed over Mike. If Walt confessed to letting Jane die and poisoning Brock as well, then I'd buy it. He'd finally see how badly Walt has duped his life. But his current reaction seems way overblown unless it's very delayed PTSD. Maybe everything added together finally pushed him past his breaking point, but it seemed like a very sudden change of character. And Skylar has always been the schemer. Seeing her act like this is no surprise. It's refreshing actually because for once she's not being a bitch to Walt. But it's also to save her own ass. If Walt is exposed she's going to jail just as quickly as him.
Walt gave Jesse that money in the two black duffelbags in the last episode of Season 5A and I'd venture a guess that over the last month its presence has burned its way through Jesse's soul/conscience. He can't get over the death of that kid on the motorbike, as shown by his desire to send the money to his parents. He can't live with himself anymore over the things he's done. I do agree that it's a major and unexpected transformation for him. He's always been sensitive but right now it seems like he's falling apart. It would not have surprised me to see him relapse instead of going into a numb state.
I totally buy Jesse's downward spiral. He's been on that road for a while now... the kid's murder, Mike's murder and even before that losing his girlfriend and killing Gale. All of those had profound impact on Jesse and now he's finally cracked.
