"Black Heart" Lyrics Surface Online - New Stone Temple Pilots w/ Chester Bennington Song

I find this post infuriating for how narrow minded it is.

I understand you don't like Stone Temple Pilots. I even respect that not everyone coming here to LPA is wanting to read STP news and instead favors LP news. However; LP aren't touring right now. Chester is. Linkin Park are still writing the new LP record, and barely any news is available on that front right now (apart from Instagram photos). A Light That Never Comes wont be out for at least a few days, so we can't report on that, and LPU13 wont be available till closer to November. The Mall Soundtrack isn't due to be released yet either. So therefore, is the front page is supposed to stay absolutely vacant, with no updates at all for days or weeks just because Stone Temple Pilots aren't Linkin Park? Are we just supposed to completely ignore the fact that Chester is not only an actual legal member of STP (they've legally changed the moniker to Stone Temple Pilots w/ Chester Bennington) but is releasing new music with his vocals and lyrics in only 29 days? That's foolish. The Linkin Park Association is not just a Linkin Park fansite. It's a Mike Shinoda, Chester Bennington, Brad Delson, David Farrell, Rob Bourdon and Joseph Hahn fansite. Which means that any other bands, business ventures, solo or side projects they partake in...will be covered. Because it's our duty as a Linkin Park fansite to inform the fans of ALL the band's doings, and not just the occasional new album news snippet or rare tour. Hell, up until recently we used to have to wait 3-4 years for a new record. The news page was dead because there was no news to report.

This is no different than Dead By Sunrise or Fort Minor. It's a side project, or in this case a long term commitment by Chester (as he is planning to be a member for as long as they'll allow him) and as much as you may not favor STP as a band, coverage on them is going to occur because the EP is only the beginning. The band will certainly be releasing more material with Chester, and we're going to respect him by covering it.

Especially when Chester has expressed his thanks both in person and over twitter for us being supportive of him in his other band. We never wrote off STP like some fans did, and instead were there the first show of this tour to support Chester. And we will keep supporting him because he's an awesome guy.

 

It happened over 20 years ago, but now you guys can see why I don't take too kindly to jokes about domestic violence/abuse.

What Jeff said and for people who aren't "in the know" it's to "let them know what they will be getting at a live show."

 

The name change is to let fans know exactly what they're getting. If they marketed it just as STP the fans who were not aware of Scott's firing would be expecting Scott on stage. By alerting people to the fact that Chester is the new vocalist (via a name change) it allows people to know that if they're going to the show they're going to be seeing Chester and not Scott.
