Okay, so according to HowStuffWorks, artists currently do not see royalties from radio, but that is essentially what that is trying to establish. So I was wrong and the royalties would be given to the artists. Still, I don't see how the radio companies would be able to do it. The big stations could probably manage but the smaller stations would be left behind. At least that's the way I see it. @Ant: Yes, I admit I was wrong but I wouldn't have reacted the way I did if you wouldn't have talked down to me. I may have been wrong but you could have stated it much better and it could have been much more civil. Also, instead of posting a link to wikipedia (which I found degrading) you could have just explained it to me instead of expecting me to read through all that to prove myself that I was wrong.
wait.... I thought bands got a small payment every time their song came on the radio.... where the crap have I been??? I don't think anyone ever told me that but its just always made sense to me that if a radio station wants to play a song... they have to pay for it.... just like a movie theatre playing a movie has to buy the right to show it... wow haha I can't believe I never knew this... but then, I don't listen to radio, I just have my iPod in my car at all times.
I'm gonna go ahead and agree, this isn't a good move. Radio serves to promote music and that is what earns an artist the attention they get. And that should be enough. Fixing it so that radio stations pay royalties is only feeding the rich. In context, it's pointless.
