I think ATS had some of the most inspired lyrics from LP. I think it's because the whole album had such clear focus and direction that they could focus on writing lyrics about the topic and not some vague stuff to appeal to the masses. My favorite (and underrated) is Robot Boy, for instance: "The weight of the world has kept you from letting go" - really speaks to me, to me this is saying that the world is such a fucked up place that you can't forgive humanity and in turn, can't trust them. This then evolves into: "Hold on, the weight of the world will give you the strength to go" - means that the same thing that caused your hatred can be used to inspire you and help people, make humanity a little less sucky. Also I like Burning in the Skies, the metaphors are powerful without resorting to cheesy one liners (Until It's Gone, anyone?). I really like Blackout too.
