Well music doesn't always have to be "entertaining" you can listen just to hear the melody or the patterns. If I was ever in a big band I would want to do what I love, not worry if someone else likes it, that's a bonus. I do see how it is hard to not care if others like your stuff and them actually liking it unless you try to make it good, that comes down to if you are a good songwriter/band or not.
TBH, I honestly used to hate Billy Corgan's voice. Now it really doesn't bother me at all. It takes some getting used to, I guess. I always thought that music was, first and foremost, about the artist, not the fans. Granted, the artist would be nowhere without the fans, but it works both ways. Without the artist, there would be no fans. And if you're doing music you hate, then chances are, people will be able to tell, and most people won't like you. So it all really does come down to whether or not you like what you're doing.
I dont know I think I appreciate more the oldies than the new one. From Metallica down to Led Zeppelin. Can't take: Paramore Flyleaf( eventhough its a christian band, i cant take their vocalist. She ruined smells like teen spirit) The Jonas Brothers Lil Wayne( he reminds me of a trashcan, but i respect him as an artist) Deicide Mayhem Gorgoroth(worst) Necrophagia John Mayer(pa cute)
Dream theater. Great band. Their slow stuff is amazing too btw. Personally, I like dragonforce amongst this debate. Not only for their guitar drums singer keyboardist. I like their lyrics ALOT more than how fast they play. ( *cough* >_> )
Honestly, Dream Theater can be just as lame as DragonForce at times. . They are a more talented group though. Not as fun as DragonForce though.
I completely forgot to mention HORSE the band. I'm pretty sure they top every other band in this thread in sheer lameness.
aww. i like HORSE the band. For some reason lots of people think all their songs have nintendo references. When it's only really two songs.
Like 3/4 of their debut was made up of references from Chuck Palahniuk books, any more and they'd have to credit him a lyricist. And as Jordan said: Animal Collective, don't 'get' them at all. I also don't get The Sound Of Animals Fighting, which is a shame because I like most the bands in which the members all originate from.
Dream Theater DragonForce Breaking Benjamin Coldplay Smashing Pumpkins Radiohead The vocals just ruin the last two bands for me. I tried getting used to it, but meh... The other ones I just don't like at all.
Tiger & The Duke Re-Release. Soooo amazing, also The Ocean & The Sun is a great album, you just have to listen to it all the way through. I only like a few songs from Lover, The Lord Has Left Us... That album was just all over the place because of the massive amount of people who contributed ideas and whatnot.
