I can appreciate Dragonforce for what they are, and at least they don't seem to have much pretense about what they do if any. I've never seen them live myself but I know plenty of people who have seen them and have said it's a fun experience one way or another.
Well there goes any hope of Nightwish being anything great anymore. People have this view for a reason. There is plenty of better "Power Metal" bands that are worth listening to. It's not being biased, it's just an opinion.
A lot of people seem to listen to Dragonforce purely cos they're faster than their friends favourite band. If I want fast, I'll listen to something like Dream Theater personally, where it's still musical as well as fast. IMO of course, I've never looked far into Dragonforce.
I've got to say, that's hilarious even though I was sort-of defending Dragonforce earlier.
Panic at the Disco, with or without the exclamation mark, regardless of which "era" of theirs it is, and regardless of the "emo" label. I've never understood what people see in them. I mean, what was the main goal for them in creating that band? I envision it something like this... "Hey, let's get together and play a bunch of mediocre songs with an obvious lack of cohesiveness, like each member of the band is completely in their own universe. Let's make it a point to play these songs in a manner that's far too poppy to get onto any rock stations, but too rocky to get onto any pop stations, so the only people that will ever play our stuff are college radio station DJs who think they're being trendy. Then let's give most of these songs ridiculously long song titles that usually have nothing to do with the song itself, because that's the only thing people will remember about us. And since we're friends with Pete Wentz, we're pretty much guaranteed mainstream exposure even though we're trying our hardest to look, act, and sound as un-mainstream as possible. People won't get WTF we're going on about, even though we'll automatically be MTV sweethearts. Sound good to you?" "YEAH MAN, LET'S DO IT!"
That is hilarious. @Dr.: That's a bit harsh. Reminds me of when someone asked me what music I was into. I answered "I'm getting into Punk and stuff" and they asked "Like Panic at the Disco!?"
The lyrics are mainly written by Ryan Ross, the ones on the first album were all done by him and then the second album was him primarily again but songs like Mad As Rabbits were written by each member, that's why it's all over the place. The songs are just nice and relaxing to listen to, I HATED the following of scene girls for their first album. But thankfully they act normally now and have gotten past the scene part of music. Just my opinion but their newest live DVD, is really good.
They covered what is basically my favourite song ever, Tonight, Tonight by the Pumpkins, and destroyed it. I can't forgive them for that
The drums in their cover made me want to cry. Also the lack of emotion. Hey we'd be pretty bored on here without musical differences.
I thought Brendon had tons of emotion in that song. Well, I only like few Pumpkin songs, like 1979. I just hate his voice.
Nah, all that really matters is that their music resonates with people, that's what gives any kind of music validity. And theirs obviously does resonate with a certain crowd, so I can't say that it has no purpose existing or anything like that. But I still don't get what people see in their music, it's not the least bit entertaining to me.
