    LMFAO. Great names. [/b][/quote]
LOL they're Newfies what can ya say? :p No offense to you guys, its just ritual to joke about newfies (in Canada anyways) :D

Great Big Sea is the only one I know, and that I like their one song a bit.......

I live in Southern Ontario, and yeah we have some good bands: Finger Eleven originated in the Greater Toronto Area (I think?), Sum 41, Three Days Grace, Billy Talent, I Mother Earth (kick ass band!), the Tragically Hip (one of the greatest bands of the 90s), as for punk bands, I'm not into them too much so I can't tell ya about the local underground punk scene.

Is Nickelback, Theory of A Deadman, and Default are other Canadian bands, can't remember where they are from. Most of them originate from three cities (Toronto has 3 million) because Canada only has about 6 or so cities with over 500 000 people.

Well no one came from my town but from the Boston area there is:
    Staind
    Godsmack
    Aerosmith
Big D and the Kids Table
    Dropkick Murphys

I'm not a fan of the first two but the other bands are awesome.

Bands that claim to be from Chicago: Disturbed, Chevelle, Kill Hannah, Alkaline Trio, and The Blank Theory. Hmm and Mudvayne's from a Chicago suburb. Oh, and Smashing Pumpkins - well, more like Billy Corgan.

OH GOD. London doesn't have any good bands. :rasberry: Well...actually, I have heard of a few London bands but they're not very well known. And one crappy boyband hails from London so I'm not exactly that proud.

Kool. I know for sure Kill Hannah is from Chicago cause they had their cd release party at tower records on clark street downtown. There is a band at my high school (von steuben) called "The Lab Rats". They're popular at Von. Thats the only one I know.

Only Hawaiian music has been the thing from Hawaii, but rock is sort of getting out there, now.

Basically, two bands to my knowledge are now playing mainland shows. There's a heavy rock band named Living in Question, who is just beginning to tour with Authority Zero. Then there's Pepper. Pepper was a band that made a huge debut playing on the Vans Warped Tour along side all those other punk bands.

Yeah, nothing to really be proud of living in Hawaii 'fame-wise', because you usually don't make it outside the islands wen you're here :p.

Well, the only band that's possibly well known is 'Slone' and they're from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Other than that, other local bands are Buck 65 and Tenpennydime. I could be wrong. I'm not sure if they're from Nova Scotia or other maratime provinces.

The other local artists are folk music and fiddle stuff. So yeah!

Sloan's a great band, a bit more 'garage' rock, but awesome. 'The Rest of My Life' is a good song, but their best songs are from their earlier stuff, namely 'The Good In Everyone', 'Money City Maniacs', and 'Underwhelmed'.

And yes, OLP is another great band from Ont. Although, they have gone downhill (IMO) since their 'Naveed' days (mid-90s).

Has anyone (most likely from Canada) heard 'No Coma' by I Mother Earth? Great song, their new album's awesome. Their hit 'Summertime in the Void' also got played on MuchMusic and Edge 102. 'One More Astronaut' from them kicks ass too!

I just found out Akercocke (a black metal band) is based in London but I'm not exactly into Satanic music, so.... :wth:

Some of it can be Satanic. Lots of the hardcore black metal bands are very violent. In the Scandanavian countries there have been many people killed due to a surgence of black/death metal bands there. This one guy killed all his band mates and then started his own solo project... :chemist:

The only black/death I like is Opeth, except they are more gothic rock mixed with death metal
