I see why most CD's are $16 or so dollars. Most nowadays come with DVDs and whatnot. Rancid's new CD came with a ######'' shirt for christ sakes. (Except the Metallica CD, that just SO wasn't worth the $20 I shelled out for that, DVD or not.) But when a brand new CD, without special features on the CD and without a DVD costs $16, it's insane.
I can understand charging $16 with the DVD and ####, but the majority of CDs still don't have that, and some prices are still sky-high. A few months ago I was looking for So Long, Astoria in FYE and guess how much they were selling it for? $18. There is no way in hell I'd pay that much for a CD, no matter how much I love the band.
Only way I'll buy a CD that's $18 or more dollars and it doesn't come with a DVD or anything is if I'm insanely loyal to that band. Nine Inch Nails springs to mind.
I got so long, astoria for $12 at my FYE. I guess it depends where you're at, eh?
Guess so. When is probably a big factor too...I think when I saw it was probably in late August. And I'll also add, just for the record, I ended up getting it at a local music store for $13.
I don't buy CDs from record stores anymore unless they're on sale. Most of the time they're a rip-off when you can find cheaper deals on the internet.
Guys, buy your CDs at places like Target, Best Buy and Circuit City, they're much cheaper. I've bought CDs at Target for 10 bucks that were almost 20 elsewhere. The reason places like Sam Goody and FYE charge so damn much is because that's all they sell, and pricing CDs cheaply would leave little profit for them and they'd go out of business, so they price CDs at insane prices to make a profit and keep the store open. The only reason they actually make money is because they put themselves in malls, where people will pay a bit more for convienence than shopping at the mall and then driving out to Target, BB or CC. Target, BB and CC have other merchandise that they make profit on, so they can afford to sell CDs closer to what they pay for them. Plus, at least one of the stores should sell any CD you could possibly ever want, even the bands that haven't hit mainstream.
Considering how materialistic mainstream America is right now, I highly doubt that.
Mainstream America? Does that mean there's an Underground America?
Mainstream America? Does that mean there's an Underground America?
Yes there is, your body goes there when you die....(hopefully :chemist
