Yeah, the quilt Maple top is nice. I'm suggesting the Prophecy because it's got a bound neck and body, and 24XJ frets, which are handy as. Plus I'm more of an EMG guy, but that's personal preference.

Really they're fairly similar, just comes down to price, looks and what pickups you prefer.

 

I want a Prophecy so bad, but I can't decide between the EMG one and the Dirty Fingers HB one. On one hand, I love EMGs, but on the other hand, I like passive pickups better, because they're less of a hassle in the long run.

They're both awesome though.

@ Jacob: The Goth is okay, but I personally prefer the LP Ultra. It's a nice change from the heavyweight LPs, and it's got a nice rich semi-acoustic tone. If you're looking for a darker tone though, and a darker look to boot, I'd go with the Goth LP, or like Daniel suggested, the Prophecy. The latter one is only if you have the cash for it though.

 

This conversation just makes me even more pissed off I'm guitar-less at the moment.

 

I'm about to be in the same boat in less than a week. And when I finally get mine back (no doubt after an overly long wait), I doubt I'll be able to play it, it's in such bad shape at the moment.

 

it sucks, doesn't it? I had a nice enough set up, not expensive but it did well enough. Ibanez GIO plus a Roland Cube 60. Unfortunately I had to sell both because I've been really strapped for cash lately.

I have an Epi Les Paul Standard, I fucking love it.



Haven't regretted it at all, personally I'm not a big fan of the EMG's in some Les Paul's. My humbuckers sound sweet to my ears.
