You can't get to France on a rowboat. Besides, in PA it's 18 that is the legal age of consent, not 16.
I'd say 18 is good. 16 is just too young. No one is emotionally/morally responsible enough to take sex seriously at 16.
Over here it's 16, which I don't really have a problem with. But people are starting waaaaaaaaaay earlier than 16. The Grade 9's (13 or 14) at my school are shocking.
As a 16 year old, I disagree. I hate when people lump us all together in a huge group. Yes, most 16 year olds ARE too immature to handle safe sex, but that doesn't mean all of us are. I understand the risks and the precautions that need to be taken but I have chosen not to have sex up until this point in my life. It's not something to be thrown around, I would have to really, TRULY trust someone before I would ever make such a deep physical connection with them. So please, don't make generalizations.

I'm annoyed by the people who're saying that you should be this or that age. This whole age of consent is crap in my opinion. It's what you want, it's your body. I'm not saying you should slut around with your body, but there shouldn't be anyone to tell you what to do and don't with your body.
I agree, but from the gouvernments point of view they have to set a certain age. If they don't, people will think it's just something you can go do and it won't matter with who... I'd say 16 is a good age to set, but it doesn't mean you should have sex when you're 16. I think 13 - 14 is really young, though...

Oh tell me about it. You meet a fucking pretty girl in the club thinking she's about your age, talk to her for a while, everything's going ok.. And then go to get a drink and your friend tells you he knows her and that she's fucking 15 years old. And you're 21.
I run a lolicon and Shotacon community so I have to deal with this question all the time. The basic policy we've come up with is that Age of Consent should be replaced with Proof of Maturity. Some people are mature enough at even age 11-12 to understand everything about sex, and yet some people are 30 and haven't quite figured it out yet. As a civilzation humans used to mate at around 14. Mohammad had a wife who was 7 years old (Though he did not consumate the marriage until much much later) On the sex toys thing, Running an adult community i've had to ban my share of people who "come out" admitting their underage. It's really sad to do sometimes because alot of them are mature enough to the point where had they not said anything you'd have never expected it. I realize that there are some people who know the risks and everything and choose not to, but there are a lot of people who feel they are ready when they are 16. Obviously morality and responsibilty is not limited to age but I feel that the people who do "think" they are ready for that kind of responsibility are not, especially at that age.
Do whatever you want, no matter what age. Its not like you're gonna listen to the law while there's a hot chick laying next to you. "No, I have to wait 3 more years. Sorry." Hit it!
