I guess mentioned Robot Boy in his blog...but never thought it'd be a title of the actual album.
WOW, now it's funny, 15 tracks, with some awesome titles.

This. Song names overlap all the time. No big deal.

Well, I think Empty Spaces could've been avoided, considering they said they've been incredibly influenced by Pink Floyd for this album.

And hellions_on_parade, read my last post.

EDIT: I'm just gonna quote myself...

Also I'm betting on Robot Boy for a single. It'd catch the eye of dimwitted teenage girls as "awww so cute" based on the title. The kinds in high school with pictures on their binders of a kid in a dinosaur costume going "Rawr! It means I love you in dinosaur :3"

Sorry, I was reading from a few pages back and replying on sight. I get what you mean. If anything "Empty Spaces" could be a nod really. That is a kickass Floyd song.

Maybe there should be another pair of songs in place of Robot Boy, called Bender and Flexo.

    How We Write
    June 5, 2009

We had a big band meeting this week to get caught up on album progress. With all the New Divide and Transformers stuff going on, we’ve been distracted for a while :)

In our weekly meetings, we listen to each song, give it a grade (A+ to F-), and write notes. The grades get tallied (10 points for an A+, 9 for an A, and so on). The written notes are things like “the music in the first half loses my attention a little bit,” or “I like the chorus, but the verse is a little weak.” My favorite note from this week: “Sometimes it’s nice to have balls.” (thank you Dave)

The songs all have working titles like “Robot Boy,” “Rygar,” and “Underbite.” Usually the working titles don’t sound anything like the song (the name usually comes before we’ve written a note). All of those titles are going to change, but we need to name stuff to keep it organized. “Robot Boy” got the highest grade so far, at about an 8.75. “Voyage” got the lowest, with a cumulative 3.5 and notes like “sleepy time.” LOL

We listened to about 18 song ideas, and I think we’ll have another session to listen to another 10-15 songs in a week or two.

PS: I put the Carson Daly interview up temporarily in the videos section:

PPS: Still no word on Laura and Euna, keeping an eye on the news.

Okay, I don't mean to call you out here, but I really need to argue in defense of your comment on creativity. If anything, Lady Gaga is the MOST creative out of what we have playing on the Top 40 today. You can't show me another artist that has gotten this popular with our generation and sounds this bizarre. 'Bad Romance' was an eerie tune, and it's surprising that there's an artist out there today that can make a number one hit out of a song that revolves around a weird concept of Spanish names (Alejandrooooooooo).

I'm not trying to make the point that she's brilliant, since that's completely opinionated. What I AM saying is that she's DEFINITELY changed the way the pop music industry runs today, and that took creativity. Compare her music to any song on your Top 40 station and tell me otherwise.

As for the tracklist, is it weird that I think of the Bowser levels in Super Mario 64 when I read 'Burning in the Skies'? Those rounds were epic shit. :awesome:

Yeah, Lady Gaga is one of the smartest pop artists in recent history. Social and personal commentaries disguised as pop candy for the masses. Brilliant mind.

Except for the fact that she's manufactured? Have you not seen pictures of her pre-Lady Gaga? She looked like a completely normal, modest girl. And Alejandro was probably only a success because it was associated with Gaga. I personally thought that song was the least creative out of all the other songs of hers that made it to the radio.

I don't really know, so I'm not gonna say this is a fact, but I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't even write half of her music, just like every other pop artist.

I don't want to continue Lady Gaga-ing this thread, but many artists have given Lady Gaga credit as being a genuine, non-manufactured pop star (which I know is almost an oxy-moron now-a-days).

As for her looks, well, that comes with the territory I guess.

Yeah, I've seen those, and the videos of her performances at random restaurants. I'm not necessarily saying she's the smartest pop star out there now. She's definitely changed to appeal to a mass audience. The one thing I noticed, though, was that in a society where every pop artist tries to come off as "different", or "shocking" (Rihanna's 'Rated R' or Miley Cyrus's 'Can't Be Tamed'), It's nice to see someone who says the same, and actually succeeds. However she makes her music, or whoever writes it, she's still creeped me out for sure. o_O

    ALRIGHT STOP.

No really. Knock it off. This thread is going incredibly off topic, and we don't need to talk about whether or not Lady Gaga is good/bad or manufactured. There's a time and place for that and it's not this thread. Now let's go back to talking about Linkin Park/ATS. Thank you.
