The reason why Pts.Of.Athrty kicks this video's ass is most likely the fact that Points had a "script", there was a story behind it, even if it was robots beating the shit of each other. Though I like this video, it's more of a "look! we can model intrincate CGI figures" over anything else. Also in the making of the video they talk a lot about the city, how big it is, its districts (apparently one for each band member) and in the actual thing we saw very little of that.
Oh there is a story or meaning. It's just that, as per LP tradition, it's vague or confusing as hell.
Visually, I like the video, but I didn't understand anything about the storyline until I watched the making of. ^ Exactly! Seems like they put a lot of effort into creating that city but in the end, it doesn't really even show in the video. Just bits and pieces here and there and they're flashing in front of your eyes so quickly that you don't really even have time to actually see them. ^ I agree! I guess there is kind of a climax but it seems somewhat lame.
Ghost Town posted on their Facebook page that they were dissatisfied with the quality of Youtube's compression on the video. They are going to try and post it in higher quality to their website soon. https://www.facebook.com/gtmvfx/posts/527800283955966
Sorry for the bump, but yeah I actually agree with this. I watched the video first and loved it (still do) but then I watched the making of, and yeah your right, that huge city, all of the effort put into seems like a waste. What is the point of spending all that time making the CGI and then not show 99% of it? I wanna see the city return, and be shown in all it glory.
