concider yourself lucky , Id love to have seen a collaboration like that between Jay Z and linkin park. Its stuff like that that linkin park does in concert that seperates them from the rest when it comes to live entertainment ( just look at when they did the nin cover as well :D )

"Street" cred does not make a good band. Just look at most underground indie/rap. Beside, I don't want the local fashionistas going around in Linkin Park hoodies.

I have no problems with a collaboration between Jay Z and LP, but at least keep the same subject, eh? I mean, paranoia and pimping don't go in the same sentance, usually, unless you're... you know, running from the cops or something ...

i just left the boards in the LPU and they say Jay-Z made the appearance in NJ. Maybe he did it more than once who knows? But they say it was an amazing show..everyone that went to that show still hasn't been able to stop talking about it.

I wear hoodies, and I'm glad I don't have street cred because of that. The point I was trying to make was that if LP had street cred maybe we would see fashionistas (fashionable people) wearing hoodies. It's called cynicism, ya see ;) .

As for your theory as to why Jay-Z made an appearance, people are just surprised that a massive star like him would want to play with LP.

Well, Jay-Z and Linkin Park met a few months ago in Los Angeles for the pilot of MTV's new show "Mash-ups". I think the whole point of the show is to put the biggest stars in different genres together in concert. So that was an MTV-arranged invite. We just found about it yesterday, so it's kinda old to post as news.

So, Linkin Park comes to New York with their tour, and remember that this is Jay-Z's home town. They want to meet up with him because he's their friend from that show. That's basically it.

Actually, I've heard that the ending montage in 99 Problems (when he gets shot) is like the death of Jay-Z, and the (re)birth of Sean Carter.

The reason I say that is because I've heard he's going to start doing albums under that name now.

Of course that was awhile ago.

His shoe line (under Reebok) is called 'The S. Carter Collection' or 'The S-Dot Carter's'. I wouldn't say he's the new P Diddy because they both exist in the same time and space, plus Jay-Z's clothing company (Roca-Wear) has been around longer than P Diddy's (Sean John).
