I think that the single choices were good but the promotion put behind them was woefully inadequate. Except, of course, in the case of "Burn It Down".

Dude wolflink you're the reason LP fans have a bad name. Seriously. GET. OVER. IT.

Anyways :lonial: I will bet money LP6 or a single off of it is out before January 1st. Which is awesome because they could go to Dallas on February 20th (my birthday) because how awesome would that be?! And I'm just so excited for all the music on board. STP ep, Lp6, The mall and its soundtrack, and Collision Scratches (lol we need a codename for the DJ collab) It's a great time to be an LP fan :D

Castle of Glass may not have been able to do well on charts but it was a good single.

LITE had potential to be perhaps the biggest single since New Divide or What I've done. Burn It Down sold a million while LITE was a much catchier song. The intro alone would have gotten it 500,000 downloads. That was, if it was promoted well. It was shocking how the single was released unannounced in spite of the early hype it got with the music video and everything. I still remember how it was posted here that the song has been released silently as a single after so much of speculation about when it would actually release.
The biggest problem was how the release dates just kept changing again and again for LITE and even COG.

It's why I'm hoping they would release In My Remains as a single. That song has the biggest potential after LITE. It charted the best when the album released, after LITE, for a non-single song.

Overall, I am disappointed with this album cycle. Less new songs being played live and bad promotion of new singles. It's also why I'm hyped for any new songs from the band.

Am I the only one who thought that "Lost in the Echo" would not do well as a single? I knew from first listen that it would be a single, but like "Given Up" - a harder one that would please fans, but not the general public. As a guy who listens to a lot of mainstream radio, "Lost in the Echo" had no chance to be hit. The sheer fact that there's rap rock and screams already denies its appeal. If there was promotion, it could top the Alternative Songs chart, but it could never reach Top 40. "Burn It Down" was more successful, simply because of it's excessively promoted, it's a first single from a new LP album, and it's poppy, catchy and fit for people's ears.

That's what amazes me about this album cycle and how terribly things were promoted. You have BID that was literally so heavily promoted that you couldn't go anywhere without hearing it, and then the other singles just snuck by without any promotion whatsoever. The failure of promotion on COG and LITE is unspeakable and warner should be ashamed of themselves. The changing release dates and silent releases are what killed this albums success.

"Blink and you'll miss it" album cycle, but it was good. I think I was enjoying it most around the time Castle of Glass's video came out, that was when it all felt significant.

EDIT: LP Recharge, you're pushing me!

Yeah, a terrible marketing job after BID
because after album release they were doing an excellent job with scavengeer hunt, and the puzzle page
Because as you said BID was as they said "the song of the summer"
Now to be honest (no whinin) the LITE video really sucked despite the fact it won best interactive video or something
And the COG video was good, and well produced (only take those animations from the game) but no promotion something like BITS
Powerless was sold to abraham lincoln movie so they can´t promote it after that

But this cames since MTM after given up video.
MTM Why we dont get In pieces one of their best songs? instead of LAOTR
ATS Blackout???? WTCFM???? only 3 songs and 1 for transformers
LT Powerless????? In my remains or I´ll be gone????? even Until it breaks is a good option.

If LP has made their mind and are not coming back to warner after the contract ends, then i think they will release their next projects this way:
    1. The mall under warner contract, to get rid of the contract. besides a soundtrack album is not that comercial after all
    2. LPU13 not problem here. (insert collaborations here)
    3. LP6 independent??? with a brand new label??? a new LP era

    ALTNC a la blackbirds

While you are basing that on the fact that BID was more poppy and recent trend-ish, LITE was a track that charted quite well on itunes, when the album released, more than all the other tracks(excluding BID). If I remember well, it touched the top 20 or 30 in the itunes charts which proves it had potential. Plus, I don't think the screaming mattered since it was hardly there unlike Given Up. Plus, LITE was perhaps the closest thing to LP's early nu metal days since Meteora which opened up the potential of it doing well among those "old" LP fans. So, potential wise, LITE had possibly the biggest potential.

Edit - I'm actually glad that the band didn't choose LITE as their 1st single. Cause then, it would have given the impression that their album was gonna be like the earlier ones. And if that happened, these "old" LP fans would not stop whining about it and how they were cheated into believing the band was going back or some nonsense.

Agreed. Warner Bros messed this one up big time.

As far as I remember, I think it was released as a promotional single in Japan. No one even knew about until someone stumbled upon it.

Many sites don't consider it an official single, but the discography section in LP's website consider Powerless as one of their releases. I still don't think it's an official single though.
