I live in China (temporarily), and the government usually censors this stuff. Sadly, this isn't uncommon. Many people can't afford education, which somethimes costs less than 10 dollars a year; it's common for a poor family to not send their daughter(s) to school because they don't think that it's as important as educating their son. The government in China is really corrupt in general, and the police are totally corrupt. They're known for framing people for a personal vendetta, and executing them without a tril.
disterbing but slightly touching. its sad that people in other countries have to put up with this. this makes me relize what i have
Wow....just wow. I can't even fatham being the person/people that told him that he can't do anything because he doesn't have the money. He could have done something huge to help his country one day but not now. That's really sad
i suppose $80 was a lot for people of his kind ... the story is kind of sad, having all your hopes and dreams and potential shattered so harsly and [publicly] must be pretty hard for someone who tried so hard. i suppose there was nothing left for him then. :wth:
My mom and grandparents were farmers in China's countryside before coming to the US. I've heard stories about how they lived, and how much money they made. And I can tell you, it wasn't much. It's really sad that this happened. RIP.
Oh wow. That is horrible. Like previously mentioned, it makes you realize how horrible things are in other places, and how completley trivial your issues seem compared to theirs. We worry about not having enough money for the new iPod or cd we want; can't go out on the day we want. These people have to scrape anything that have together to pay for food, for education...for their life. It makes me feel horrible for what has happened to China. There should be some sort of fund in Qingming's name for the family. Like, a massive donation of money to help this family out. Money, clothes, food. Anything to help out at least one family at a time.
Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Considering the fact that his story appeared in the new york times, I'm surprised that this hasn't happened already. Or maybe it has, and I just dont know.
