After a short break from touring performances, Linkin Park is back for another round! The band's next series of shows will span several festivals and arena shows across Europe over the summer, beginning in Austria!

Linkin Park will be kicking off their Europe summer run with Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf, Austria. The band will be headlining alongside Korn, Slipknot, and German electronicore band Electric Callboy. Nova Rock will be the first of six festival performances the band will appear at in Europe this summer—others including Hellfest, Rock Werchter, and I-Days—with nine stadium and arena dates slotted between them throughout June and July.

This will be Linkin Park's eleventh performance in Austria. As with several other European countries, the band's first visit came while supporting Deftones as an opener on the Back to School tour in March 2001, when they played in Vienna. They returned six months later on their own headlining European tour, which turned out to be their last Austrian performance until 2007, due to the band cancelling their appearance at 2004's Aerodrome Festival.

With Nova Rock specifically, Linkin Park has a bit of history, first performing at the Pannonia Fields festival grounds in 2007 during the Minutes to Midnight touring cycle. This performance was marked by complications from a severe weather incident the day prior at Heineken Jammin' in Venice. A sudden downburst collapsed sections of the speaker and lighting towers into the crowd and damaged several performers' equipment, including Linkin Park's. The rest of Heineken Jammin' was immediately cancelled, with Linkin Park among the acts who did not play.

Despite the setback, Linkin Park went forward with Nova Rock the following day. The band's road crew worked with festival organizers to borrow enough gear to fill in the gaps for their performance. Their set, just before headliner Pearl Jam, notably included "Leave Out All the Rest" and "The Little Things Give You Away," debuted at the beginning of the European run, as well as staple "No More Sorrow."

"Leave Out All the Rest" live from Oeiras Alive! in Portugal, eight days prior to Nova Rock 2007.

The A Thousand Suns and LIVING THINGS album cycles also saw Linkin Park return to the stage at Nova Rock. The band returned in both 2011 and 2012 as a top-billed headliner alongside artists such as System of a Down, Metallica, and Iron Maiden.

    The 2011 set
, during their second European run for the A Thousand Suns world tour, included a "Burning in the Skies" chorus over an extended "Bleed It Out" bridge, icons of the album cycle such as "When They Come for Me" and "The Catalyst," and a fiery "One Step Closer" to finish out the encore.

"Waiting for the End" at Nova Rock 2011. One of the few dates where the band dropped the "Jornada del Muerto" intro during the A Thousand Suns cycle.

"Bleed It Out" featuring the chorus of "Burning in the Skies" over an extended bridge.

In 2012, high winds again affected the band's performance at Nova Rock, this time the day of. Strong gusts temporarily shut the festival down, forcing Rise Against—scheduled just before Linkin Park—to modify their set and delaying Linkin Park’s own performance. The band dropped several songs to shorten their setlist and fit the new time constraint. However, despite the cuts, the band still kept several highlights, such as "A Place for My Head," "From the Inside," "Bleed It Out" with Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" over the bridge, and extended "Waiting for the End"—with an intro featuring the third verse of "UNTIL IT BREAKS."

Linkin Park's performance at Nova Rock 2012 started with a ripping "A Place for My Head" opener, featuring an extended intro.

The last Linkin Park appearance at Nova Rock was in 2017, when they headlined the festival’s warmup day. The set leaned into One More Light material with a "Talking to Myself" opener, along with "Good Goodbye," "Invisible" and "Heavy." The band's 2017 set at Nova Rock featured many other staples of the One More Light touring cycle: the piano rendition of "Crawling," the buildup intro version of "Leave Out All the Rest," and "What I've Done" with an extended keyboard and synth intro.

"Points of Authority" at Nova Rock 2017, bringing its punch to the late setlist.

Now, eight years since their last time at Nova Rock, Linkin Park is prepared to bring their newest material to the Austrian festival crowds. With this summer run in Europe, the band is at the halfway point of the the year, but not even a quarter of the way through their total shows for 2025! Even so, it has been quite a year so far. Attendees of the earlier tour legs this year saw three band birthdays (Mike, Phoenix, and Emily) and a lot of live debuts.

The first 2025 show in Mexico City saw the debut of "Good Things Go" and "Overflow," which both stayed consistently for all six dates in the Mexico and Asia dates this past winter. The most recent shows of the North American spring run further included the debut performances of all remaining songs from the standard edition of From Zero. "Cut the Bridge," "Stained," and "IGYEIH" made their full live debuts in short order, marking the first time since 2007's Minutes to Midnight that the band has performed all songs from a new album in full.

The live debut of "IGYEIH" will undoubtedly go down as one of the band's most notable, with Emily joining the crowd and performing from the pit!

In addition to the ten tracks off From Zero as released in November 2024, Linkin Park also added the live premieres of two bonus tracks from the album's recent deluxe edition, released just under a month ago. "Up from the Bottom" was used as a staple of the live set for the previous tour leg, and the band surprised attendees of the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach with the debut of "Let You Fade" on the last tour stop for the spring, just a day after its official release on the From Zero deluxe edition.

The live debut of "Let You Fade" at Welcome to Rockville, featuring three guitarists.

Another new addition from the spring shows was a shortened version of Fort Minor's "Where'd You Go," apparently at Emily Armstrong's request. Mike also began a trend of rotating a different verse from across all his recorded material during his solo medley, including verses from "UNTIL IT BREAKS;" Nick Catchdubs' "SKIN TO BONE" remix featured on RECHARGED; Fort Minor's "Petrified" and "There They Go" from The Rising Tied (celebrating its 20th anniversary this November); "Step Up" from the band's 1999 EP; and a demo verse for "Lift Off" from his Post Traumatic album.

Mike's "When They Come for Me" and "Remember the Name" medley in Greenville, South Carolina, featuring the first verse of "Step Up."

Even more recently, Linkin Park played a short one-off set in Munich, Germany, to kick off the UEFA Champions League final on May 31. The band played "The Emptiness Machine," "Numb," "In the End," and "Heavy Is the Crown." All four songs were abridged to meet the time constraints, though the closer "Heavy Is the Crown" also featured elements of "Up from the Bottom," as well as a custom remix of "Numb."

The kick off performance by the band at Allianz Arena in Munich, posted by Linkin Park.

With Linkin Park's nonstop energy and plenty of surprises, the From Zero cycle continues to deliver for fans, and there no signs of the band easing up any time soon. In fact, tickets recently went on sale for another summer run of shows in Europe in 2026, which will also include both Rock am Ring and Rock im Park! The band is certainly making their presence known in Europe in the wake of their comeback—especially considering they have sold out their July 28th date at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London, which has been host to historic performances from artists ranging from Michael Jackson to Queen.

With three festivals under their belt since the band's return, and positive reviews pouring in from Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville, Linkin Park seems poised to bring great performances to the European summer festivals. Between their two previous festival performances this year, it's possible the band's summer festival set could follow a similar structure to Columbus and Daytona Beach—with "CASTLE OF GLASS," both Mike and Joe's solo segments, and two of the rotation slots cut.

Full audience recording of the band's Sonic Temple set.

However, it would be unsurprising if the band pulled out new surprises for Nova Rock. With only one From Zero-era song left to debut ("Unshatter"), and a number of murmurings we have heard from the band about songs they would enjoy playing live (including a now-deleted post from Colin Brittain saying that he would love "Robot Boy," "Runaway," "Shadow of the Day," and "With You," among others), it does seem hopeful for a shakeup in the setlist at some point this year. While it's hard to predict anything reliably, fans would surely not object to some of the names going around, such as "QWERTY" or "Blackout."

Linkin Park is scheduled to take the Blue Stage at 23:30 Central European Summer Time.

The band has been killing it so much live.

So much good stuff is in rotation already, that I wouldn't expect big surprises from this next leg, but of course I would welcome any.

I'll be attending. so hyped! :linkinpork: apart from seeing the band performing live, what I love about these shows are the people. You can just come up to anybody who is wearing a LP shirt, and talk to them like you know them for years.

The last time I saw them was at Nova Rock in 2017, where I also got into M&G... I met Chester and he was smiling the whole time while signing the autographs. I miss him.

I'm still holding out for them to bring back "QWERTY" at some point before the next North American run. The whole setlist is just Papercuts, give us the other single already. :kappa:

    I had fun!

    :linkinpork:

No surprises in the setlist, but what surprised me the most that Emily let the crowd on so many songs, mostly the old hits...

Look. I'm not saying Colin's irrational and factually incorrect love of Somewhere I Belong cost a crowd the beautiful perfection of a live performance of Waiting for the End, but I'm not NOT saying it.

    ...

Nah, fuck that, I'm saying it. This is on you Colin. How dare you.

If they don't play WFTE in Milan I might uh... well I'll loudly complain on the internet!

    And maybe cry.

Maybe they only leave it out on festivals set lists. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and it fits in larger sets.

That 20-songs set looks a bit pale in comparison to their usual 2h monster set, especially missing staples such as WFTE, WTCFM medley, and the screamy rotation spot.

With that said, they're doing a good selection job overall, given the time constraint. And let's not forget the stadium shows are coming up!
