Complex has just posted the second article and video from their recent interview with Mike and Joe. In the video, Mike and Joe finally announce what they've prepared for the 15th anniversary of Hybrid Theory - Project XVLP. They've teamed up with 6 of their favorite streetwear brands which will all create limited-edition pieces inspired by the artwork of Hybrid Theory. These brands are The Hundreds, The Seventh Letter, Brooklyn Projects, A Bathing Ape, CLOT, and RVCA. The first line will be revealed on November 3rd, with the rest all being released through the rest of the month. You can watch a short video in which Mike and Joe talk about the project below, and check the dates for the releases of the other lines at the end of the video. The official linkinpark.com page explains the underlying philosophy behind the concept and project: As noted by Shinoda in this tweet, Complex will be delivering exclusive content to correspond with each release during the schedule, including interviews with people from the brands involved to dig into the inspirations behind the designs. This is also noted in the Complex article: Are you a fan of these brands? Will you be picking up some new merch? Come, discuss this in our forums! Source: linkinpark.com / Complex
In Shinoda's defense there, while that was deliberately expensive to aim at a specific demographic, the watch is actually pretty cool, in and of itself. Anyway, I think this project is cool in theory. And, in a way, it is actually better than something that would be purely nostalgic.
Just do the Hybrid Theory shows that everyone wants already. We have enough merch to hold us over for the next 15 years. lololo
You're welcome
That's cool idea.... I hope they'll address it to the album also, Making a new twist of Hybrid Theory (not Reanimation) "X" Artist versus LINKIN PARK.
Well, if you don't arbitrarily dismiss what's already been done, I would say that that's been done. I guess the band must've concluded that the visual aesthetic is kind of less dated than the music is and, so, that would feel less like beating a dead horse.
After my first speed-read of this news I thought LP was collaborating with a bunch of artists and redoing HT songs lol. Hopefully there's some cool, affordable merch here.
I like some of the brands they're working with actually, but from the glimpses in the video I can't say I'm so hyped about this. Some of them are just kind of.. not exciting.
35$ charged as a lump sum. Edit: I think this will depend on the brand you are purchasing the merch from? And I guess international shipping costs will prevent me form buying something...
