New York! The time has come for you and the band to show some mutual love to each other! After playing their first full show in Los Angeles last week, Linkin Park now makes their way over to New York for two shows, the one that this post is preparing for, and a performance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on September 17.

Last time Linkin Park played a full show in New York, was all the way back in 2014! On August 21st, 2014, while the band was in the middle of their Carnivores Tour, they hosted their tenth LPU summit in New York. At the summit the LPU members in attendance could watch an acoustic performance of Final Masquerade, played by Brad, Mike and Chester.

So that was the last full New York performance for the band, they did have more stops planned for the city, both in 2015 and 2017, but Chester broke his leg two shows before the one scheduled in 2015 while playing basketball, so unfortunately the rest of the tour had to be cancelled. The band did however, in 2017, do some promo in the city for their 2017 album One More Light. Brad and Chester stopped by and performed the song One More Light at the Spotify offices for the employees there. Afterwards the full band headed down to Grand Central Station where they performed a small acoustic set that was filmed for Good Morning America. Initially the set ended with What I've Done, but the crowd that had gathered to watch the performance started chanting for In The End, so the band dutifully performed it.

So, should we talk about that performance in Los Angeles? Linkin Park and their fans showed that they really know how to rock out and have a good show. They extended on the setlist from their now iconic September 5th show, bringing out even more mega classics, Points of Authority, New Divide, Burn it Down, Castle of Glass, Lost In the Echo, Given Up, Breaking the Habit and Leave Out All the Rest all returned to the stage. On Points of Authority and Leave Out All the Rest, Mike now sings lead in the verses and Castle of Glass is back to it's original form for the first time since 2013, having been played mostly as a remix of the Recharged version since 2014.

As for what the band brought out that was new... well where do we start? For the first time since March 10, 2008, the band played My December. With Colin on guitar, Phoenix on bass, Mike on piano, Joe doing some light scratching and Emily on lead vocals, it's a really beautiful version of the song that really deserves to be released officially with the best recording possible. Colin also played guitar on another newcomer to the set, a mashup of When They Come for Me and Remember the Name. The song was performed by Mike and Colin solo, with Colin switching between guitar and drums mid-song.

In order to lock in, Mike DEMANDS a cap

There were also some debuts of new live songs at this show with the band bringing out two more, and they're both connected to the bands Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000–2023) released earlier in 2024. Friendly Fire was played for the first time, just months after we first heard it in February of 2024, back when we had no idea what the future of the band was. As for the other live debut, Mike talked to the crowd about how when they put out the singles collection, fans were complaining that there was something missing. No songs from The Hunting Party were included on that collection, and the fans felt that the band wasn't showing proper love to their 2014 album. So to remedy this, and bring some #JusticeForTheHuntingParty the band brought out the opening track to the album, Keys to the Kingdom, really giving Emily a chance to showcase just how hard she can bring it.

The woman is a damn beast.
So what do we think will happen at this show? Will the band make any changes to the setlist? While Keys to the Kingdom is a great energetic addition to the set, will that spot be rotated with other The Hunting Party songs that never got a live debut? Songs like All For Nothing, War and Mark the Graves never got played live and would make for good additions as well. What about the My December spot, maybe switch that song out with the acoustic version of Final Masquerade? Hell, maybe even Jay-Z appears at this show and they run down half of Collision Course, you never know.

With the advancement of technology, making it easier to livestream than ever before, fans at home were able to watch the Los Angeles show on YouTube, tiktok and Facebook, getting to experience the surprises along with the fans attending the show. While we're not gonna ask our readers to livestream the show, if anyone reading this finds a stream or you're streaming it, let us know so we can watch along with you.

After this show the band stays in New York, playing on the Tonight Show the day afterwards, where Mike is also listed as a guest separately, likely meaning he will be doing an interview segment on the show. September 22nd is the next full live show for the band, playing in Hamburg, Germany. Germany and Linkin Park go together about as well as possible, so that will make for a fantastic show.

Are you attending any shows on this tour? What changes do you think the band will make to the setlist? Is it ok to livestream a show so that people can watch along from home? Come and discuss in our forums.

Since the big September 5 live event that heralded Linkin Park's return to the stage in more than one sense, the band's official social media channels have been feeding fans a steady stream of new content. Most prominently, proshot videos of select songs from that live set have been regularly released on YouTube. These uploads feature different audio mixes and new camera angles compared to what was seen on the livestream, rendered in stunning 4K resolution.

So far, over the past week, we've been treated to individual videos of "The Emptiness Machine", "Numb", "In The End", and "Lost". Joining that list today is this video of "What I've Done":

As with many of the older songs appearing in Linkin Park's current live shows, "What I've Done" has been transposed to a different key that is more ideal for vocalist Emily Armstrong to sing it in, taken up 3 semitones from G minor up to B-flat minor. The song is a longtime fan-favourite and one of the band's most successful singles to date, and so naturally remains a staple of Linkin Park's live shows, appearing most recently in the first set of their current "From Zero" live tour in Los Angeles.

Following up from the first LPTV episode of this current series, Linkin Park have now uploaded a second LPTV episode. This one gives us a look at the first day of shooting for the "Emptiness Machine" music video, which was directed by none other than Linkin Park band member Joe Hahn.

The footage shows the Linkin Park members having their bodies scanned to create 3D models. The resulting models are eventually mapped to data from motion capture performances, and further manipulated from there to produce the dazzling visual effects seen in the final video.

Hahn is then seen back in his element and doing what he does best: directing the other band members to create those performance motion shots just like old times.

Hot off the heels of crushing the very first sold-out show of the current "From Zero" world tour, Linkin Park have been announced as a musical guest on an upcoming episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon". The program airs four nights per week on NBC at 11:35 eastern / 10:35 central time.

Per the schedule on NBC's website, Linkin Park will be appearing on the show next week, on Tuesday, September 17, right in the midst of their massively-successful short-notice tour dates - their show at Barclays Center in New York is on the 16th.

This will be Linkin Park's first television appearance since officially re-emerging from hiatus last week. It is almost certain that the band will perform the new single "The Emptiness Machine", which is currently still rocketing its way up charts worldwide and becoming a highlight in live sets.

In addition, Linkin Park band member Mike Shinoda will be also be double-dipping and appearing as an interview guest on the talk show for the first time. Whether or not he will end up doing a crowd-pleasing rap performance with Fallon, or maybe be involved in some other comedy segment, remains to be seen. Other guests appearing on the program along with Shinoda are film actors Colin Farrell and Lily Collins.

This is Linkin Park's first time being appearing on "The Tonight Show", but Shinoda's second: he did a performance on the program back in 2018 to promote his solo album "Post Traumatic".

Oh, we’re doing this? I guess we’re doing this.

Welcome back to the tour posts! We didn’t do these during the Post Traumatic tour of 2018 and 2019, and boy am I glad for that. Keeping up with the set changes Mike pulled off every night would have driven me absolutely crazy. But, now that Linkin Park is back, so are these posts.

The latest show Linkin Park played was less than a week ago, during an event taking place on September 5th. During the event, the band announced the return from their hiatus and played a one hour set with a new song, The Emptiness Machine. As well as playing the new song, a whole heap of fan favourites from their previous albums were also performed. Let's take a look at that new song and then recap the show.

As can be seen in the video above, and as you probably know by now, there has been some changes in the Linkin Park lineup from what we’re used to. Emily Armstrong is the new lead singer, on drums we have Colin Brittain and filling the role of playing lead guitar live from Brad Delson, is Alex Feder. Brad is still in the band, doing everything he would normally do, but has announced that he’s stepping away from playing live shows. In case you haven't seen his statement, you can read it below.

Beyond excited to share this new chapter with the world.

Bringing our vision to life is the culmination of many twists and turns, as we continue our unique journey together as a band. We couldn’t do it without a belief in what is possible, even when things seem impossible; without the ability to listen, particularly when emotions run deep; and without the support and love of everyone around us. Thank you thank you thank you.

In awe of @emilyarmstrong and @colinbrittain for their talent, passion, and partnership. Deep gratitude to all my bandmates for their humility, hard work, and friendship.

I’ve always felt deeply connected to and proud of our live performances. Over the years I’ve realized I thrive most when I’m actively working with my bandmates behind the scenes––in the studio, collaborating on our new music, and helping build our live show.

I am so proud of everything we continue to create together. While I will not be performing on tour in this new chapter, I am super excited to introduce Alex—my handsome deputy on the road. Alex is a world-class musician, a kind and thoughtful friend, and we are truly fortunate he’ll be contributing his unique talent to our LP universe.

Fresh eyes, honest appreciation, and devoted teamwork have brought us to this special moment. The privilege of sharing our creativity with you. Thank you for joining us on the journey.

So now that we're caught up, let’s go a bit deeper into that show on September 5th. The band started the show off with the lead single for their new album From Zero, The Emptiness Machine. Then the old classics started coming, launching directly into Somewhere I Belong, Crawling, Lying From You and The Catalyst. Lying From You was last played back in 2015 when the band performed a shortened version of Lying From You / Dirt Off Your Shoulders from Collision Course on the second to last show of the unfortunately shortened North American leg of the The Hunting Party tour. Somewhere I Belong, Crawling and The Catalyst were all played at the Hollywood Bowl show celebrating Chester Bennington on October 27, 2017.

Next, the band played their mega hit and classic Numb, adding on a extended intro with Numb/Encore to the song. After that came Waiting for the End, again with an extended intro. However, it wasn’t the extended intro to the song that we’re used to, with the third verse of Until It Breaks added on, instead it was a completely new one. Both Numb and Waiting for the End was last seen on the Post Traumatic tour, Numb sometimes appearing in a piano medley and Waiting for the End being mashed up with Where’d You Go.

Following this, the band launched into their first single and original hit, One Step Closer. Both an extended intro and outro were added to the song. But next, they surprised everyone. Mike and Emily played a short piano and vocals version of the bands Meteora b-side and 2023 enormous hit, Lost. This is of course the first time the song has been played in any form whatsoever, and it was a beautiful performance.

What I’ve Done, In the End and Faint came next in the show, continuing the hit streak. What I’ve Done was again last seen at the Hollywood Bowl performance, where it was performed alongside with Blink-182. In the End was a staple in the Post Traumatic shows, where Mike would it play solo on piano, and letting fans sing Chesters parts, often not leaving one dry eye in the venue. Faint was last played with Linkin Park at the Hollywood Bowl show… BUT… Mike did perform it twice with Sum-41 in 2018, playing a shorter version of the song missing the second chorus and bridge. Mike also did a short acapella version of the song at a show in China on the Post Traumatic tour.

We’re almost done, I promise. For the last two songs, the band decided to go all out, playing Papercut and Bleed It Out. Both songs were last seen on the Post Traumatic tour, with Papercut being in a medley with About You/Over Again, becoming a favourite in the set, while Bleed It Out was mashed up with Good Goodbye.

And now, here we are. The band is going on stage later today, starting off their From Zero world tour. Playing five performances in September, the band then takes October off from touring, and then plays the last show in November, just days before their new album comes out on November 15. We will keep you updated on the tour as it goes on.

Are you going to any of the shows? What new/obscure songs do you hope they play? Will you be sitting up trying to desperately find videos while the show goes on? Come and discuss in our forum.

While standing on-stage at the Linkin Park special LPU live event in Los Angeles less than 24 hours ago, Mike Shinoda promised that more details were "just around the corner", regarding the story of the band's newly-unveiled line-up. By the time that live event ended, Linkin Park fans were greeted with a new single called "The Emptiness Machine", a music video for that single, the announcement of a new studio album called "From Zero", and some tour dates for good measure.

A few hours after that, Zane Lowe teased an interview with all six current Linkin Park members, and, now, that interview is available to watch on YouTube.

Presented in partnership with Apple Music, the platform on which "The Zane Lowe Show" is hosted, the hour-long video unsurprisingly sees Zane interviewing Linkin Park founding members Mike Shinoda, Phoenix, Joe Hahn and Brad Delson (who was bizarrely absent during the live show afterwards) along with new additions to the lineup, Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain.

The program starts out with Shinoda taking Zane through the challenging logistics of staging the special event, and some of the considerations involved in reforming Linkin Park into what we are now seeing. Zane and Shinoda then sit down with the rest of the band for some deeper questions on their emotional experience of building up to Linkin Park's new chapter, complete with new music and ambitious touring plans.

Check out the interview here and tell us what you think on our message board!

As the 100 hour countdown that enticed the entire fanbase ended, the 00:00:00 time code started glitching and then started counting up instead. This confused all 56 thousand viewers of the livestream, until the counter reached 00:09:05, when it started glitching again. Immediately fans started speculating what it could mean, with the guess that it meant September 5th being the most popular. The glitching repeated at 01:35:00 (95 minutes) and then again at 09:05:00, clearly establishing the pattern.

With fans now settling into the waiting for September 5th, the band today announced that indeed something would indeed happen on September 5th, by tweeting out and updating their website, showing a partially updated LP logo and a message reading:

BE PART OF SOMETHING
SEPTEMBER 5
Along with this, an email was sent out to members of the bands official fanclub, the LPUnderground, announcing an event on September 5th that they could request tickets for. The message reads:
Only open to Linkin Park Underground members with a valid Passport Plus membership as of August 24, 2024.

Event tickets are limited, not guaranteed, and will be randomly assigned. The event will occur on September 5th
in Los Angeles, CA, between 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

If selected, the following applies:

• You must be 18 years or older
• You must be able to attend in person
• Do not RSVP if you cannot be in Los Angeles on September 5th
• No +1s allowed
• Event tickets are non-transferable
• Transportation and lodging will not be provided
• Confirmations will be emailed on the evening of Friday, August 30th
• To enter the event, you must 1) show a matching government-issued photo ID that proves you are 18 years or older 2) show a confirmation email. The name on the ID must match the name on the Ticketmaster account.
So what do you think will happen on September 5th? Is this a full blown return of Linkin Park after 7 years? Come and discuss in our forums.

Recently, rumours have swirled when it comes to whether Linkin Park is returning to the stage, and whether they will have brand-new music in tow to show off. Back in early May, Billboard revealed that the band was apparently searching for a new vocalist, and having talks about festival headline slots for 2025.

Now, the band is throwing some major fuel into that fire: linkinpark.com now has a landing page simply entitled "ø", and it features a YouTube Live embed showing a realtime countdown timer. Twitter and Instagram accounts owned by Linkin Park, plus band members Mike Shinoda, Phoenix and Joe Hahn, have all shared this countdown.

Adding to this, the timer was also shared by Welcome To Rockville, a Florida-based festival, in their Instagram story. This is a clear hint that the band has some involvement in the event, which will take place in mid-May 2025.

The countdown is set to end at Wednesday, Aug 28, at 18:15:06 UTC. Whether other festivals hint at Linkin Park appearances, whether the band teases any new music in the meantime, what the countdown even counts down to, are simply all unknowns right now. Still, this is the clearest indication yet that Linkin Park is looking forward with new live shows, so fans are rightfully excited and eagerly awaiting more updates.
