Dustin Kensrue, the lead vocalist for the genre-leaping Thrice is releasing his latest solo record, Carry The Fire this month. The album has been streamed on Pandora in full and now leaked online. I thought someone would make a thread for this release, but it never came so fuck it - this album deserves some goddamn appreciation.

Kensrue's solo project strips down the often aggressive, post-hardcore roots of Thrice in favour of a soulful, heartfelt, journey of folk music amplified by some genuine rock & roll elements. Beginning acoustic melodies often find themselves stripping away for rising electric guitar riffs and pulsing drums, creating a humbling, atmospheric landscape. But the most brilliant element is by far the lyricism. Thrice's music is poetry for the ears at times, and Carry The Fire represents some of Kensrue's most glorious work as he struggles between moments of darkness and light.

"Of Crows and Crowns" is possibly the most beautiful moment from the album, a genuine piano ballad from the heart. You're made of powerful things if you don't think of tearing-up while listening.

This man genuinely cares about his music, and it shows. Plain and simple. This album is cohesive, gut wrenching, and inspiring all at once.

Already gave it a spin and it's awesome! He's a great and inspiring guy!
Now I really hope that Thrice are going to record something new. (EP, album whatever)
