So Chester Bennington has confirmed joining Stone Temple Pilots. HE IS NOT LEAVING LINKIN PARK! Just think of this as a side project. He will be touring with them and writing an album with them. They have a single out for free called Out of Time. You should check it out, it's more of a rock song, sort of like Hybrid Theory. So what is your thoughts on this and the song. I'm personally interested to see how this turns out.
I have a feeling that this is going to be successful. After all, Chester has been a fan of this band since he was 13, so this must be a dream come true for him. Also, just because Chester is singing in a powerful voice doesn't make it sound like HT.
I've gone from feeling excited for Chester, to being scared it would ruin both bands, to being excited for both bands, to feeling like it's just a slap in the face to Scott Weiland. I love Linkin Park and my favorite member is Chester, but I also listen to STP and something doesn't sit well with me about this. I feel conflicted now. Should I listen to the new music because it's good and Chester is my favorite singer? Or dismiss all the new stuff because it's disrespectful to Weiland and ruins the way I liked the old Stuff? Doing either makes me look narrow minded and like I care too much.
Disrespectful to Scott? Fuck Scott. Scott is an addict who was disrespectful to the rest of the members of STP and all of their fans.
Being an addict isn't a reason to be disrespected in itself, and it was probably a mutual disrespect among the members. I'm not saying Scott is right in any way, just that I would respect another person as a human being and respect their feelings as a person dispite anything, but I don't have to be nice to anyone at all either.
