okay, i'll try one last time... It's not much of a vote because the original lord of the rings was one big book... the way he filmed it, it was also one big movie, then cut into thirds... I think it's unfair to vote on which of the thirds is your favorite because that vote is only asking which section of lord of the rings did you like? I personally like the lord of the rings as is, not a particular third of it. However, this wasn't meant to start an argument, so to get you all to shut it, my favorite was the return of the king. are we done yet?

Frodo leaves because he cant find happiness in Middle Earth anymore after all hes seen. He goes to the Grey Havens and across the sea to find a new, innocent world.

Sam: Stays in the Shire, becomes mayor
Aragorn: Has a son with Arwen, he eventually passes away
Legolas and Gimli: Explore the worlds together
    Gandalf: Goes with Frodo

I forget right now what happens to Merry and Pippin.

Merry and Pippin traveled together to the South. Peppin got burried in Gondor. I don't know where Merry went to after that.

Because he was put through so much in that world that he couldnt regain his old life. He liked how his life was before the journey, so he figured if he goes to a new place, he might finally be happy, finally at peace.

Plus its a metaphor for death.

From the appendices, this what I got:

Frodo, Gandalf, Bilbo, Elrond, Galadriel and Celeborn: Last to leave from the Grey Havens.
Sam: Marries Rosie and has 13 (!) kids, he named some Frodo, Merry, Pippin, Bilbo just to name a few. He becomes mayor of Hobbiton 7 times. When really old, he goes to the Grey Havens and passes over the sea. (Because he carried the ring for a short period of time, he's included with the Ringbearers)
Merry: Becomes the Master of Buckland. I don't think he marries. When he's really old he and Pippin go to Edoras just before Eomer dies. After he dies, they go to Minas Tirith and die there.
Pippin: Gets married and has one kid named Faramir. He becomes a "Thain" (don't know what that is, though it's a high honour or something). Goes with Merry when really old.
Aragon: Becomes king (obiviously) marries Arwen (obiviously), has a son and three daughters. When he dies, Arwen goes to the abandoned forests of Lorien and whithers away there.
Legolas and Gimli: After Aragon dies Legolas builds a boat and takes Gimli with him to sail over the sea where the other elves are. This was allowed only because of the great friendship him and Legolas had.
Eomer: Becomes King of Rohan and marries someone.
Eowyn and Faramir: Really don't know what happened to them. All I know is that they became Gardeners or something...

Note: When I say that the Hobbits were old I mean they were like, 102.

EDIT: Right, well, I typed that out and remembered I didn't answer the question. I'll go with the Fellowship, because Hobbiton is amazing.
