Obviously the title of this thread is a little misleading as "across the pond" would generally refer to the barrier between the United States and the United Kingdom. But for the purposes of this thread, we'll take it to mean "across the border." Basically, you're going to list your five favorite bands that DO NOT originate from your home country. Therefore, if you're from the U.K., you can't list any bands from the U.K.; if you're from the U.S., you can't list bands from the U.S. It's that simple. I'll start. 1. Funeral for a Friend (Wales) 2. Lostprophets (Wales) 3. Bullet for My Valentine (Wales) 4. Enter Shikari (England) 5. Daft Punk (France) Your turn.
01. Silverchair (Australia) 02. Duran Duran (England) 03. Lostprophets (Wales) 04. Muse (England) 05. H.I.M. (Finland)
AC/DC (Nate, they're from Australia) Nickelback (Canada. Yeah, I fucking said them) Soilwork (Sweden) In Flames (Sweden) Children of Bodom (Finland) Three Days Grace (Canada)
Not going to include American bands because they mostly comprise my top list. 01. Muse (England) 02. Oasis (England) 03. Radiohead (England) 04. In Flames (Sweden) 05. Lostprophets (Wales)
Pretty much the same, but replace In Flames with Soilwork, Lostprophets with System of a Down (which may be a stretch because I think they live in the US even though they're Armenian) and add The Beatles to that list
I'm going against Mark with no US bands and making it real easy for me. My top 5 only needs one alteration: 1.Linkin Park (sorry guys) - US 2.SOAD - I'm pretty sure they all live or were born in the US 3.lostprophets - Welsh 4.Dragonforce - England (pretty sure) 5.Adema - US
1. Linkin Park (US) 2. Metallica (US) 3. Green Day (US) 4. Killswitch Engage (US) 5. The Offspring (US)
1. Gazette/the GazettE (Japan) 2. D'espairsRay (Japan) 3. My Chemical Romance (US) 4. Nine Inch Nails (US) 5. Combichrist (Norway?) Tried to list bands that weren't all from Japan then XD
The Dillinger Escape Plan (US) REM (US) Amon Tobin (Brazil) The Haunted (Sweden) The Maytals (Jamaica)
01:: H.I.M. (Finland) 02:: Dir En Grey (Japan) 03:: the gazettE (Japan) 04:: The Lostprophets (Wales) 05:: Muse (England)
Scottish. Funny thing is that 4 of the 5 members are all British and it's only the drummer who's Australian. Nevertheless the band was formed in Australia when the founding memebers were living there.
I should mention that by "bands" I meant "artists" so you can include anyone you want on your lists. I noticed no one's really mentioning hip hop artists so I figured I'd make that clear.
Metsatöll (Estonia) Winnie Puhh (Estonia) Children of Bodom (Finland) Lamb of God (US) SYL (Canada) Korpiklaani (Finland) Týr (Faroe Islands) Thin Lizzy (Ireland (Sort of counts)) Jose Gonzalez (Sweden) And that may aswell just be a list of my favourite bands, because i haven't bought a CD of an English band in who knows how long
Does Canada count? If so, then... 1. Alexisonfire (Canada) 2. k-os (Canada) 3. Coldplay (England) 4. Daft Punk (France) 5. Lostprophets (Wales)
Hey Paul, London would count as England. It's cool to know that people here seem to like alot of music from the UK. It makes me keep faith in our music or atleast not be so ashamed of it. It's a shame though because the majority of people over here have probably never heard of bands like Funeral For A Friend, Lostprophets, Fightstar etc.
