Words cannot describe Yellowcard. They are the first band since LP themselves to really impact me. While Linkin Park got me started on music, Yellowcard perfected it, to the point where I love Yellowcard way more then LP.

How is this possible? Yellowcard is unlike anything punk, or music in general has seen. They create music which is catchy, the lyrical content is excellent, and they have something no other rock band has done before-they have a violin player. Yes, a violin player, whom plays live, does vocals also, and backflips right on stage. Violins add so much too Yellowcard's songs, distinuishing them from any other rock band on the planet.

What genre is Yellowcard? You would say punk, but really it varies on each song. "Way Away" is more alternative, "Avondale" could be classical a bit, "View From Heaven" could be considered country. That would be another upside of Yellowcard, their music can appeal to everyone.

Their new CD, Ocean Avenue, was released July 22nd. Here is the cover and tracklisting.

    1. Way Away
    2. Breathing
    3. Ocean Avenue
    4. Empty Apartment
    5. Life of a Salesman
    6. Only One
    7. Miles Apart
    8. Twentythree
    9. View From Heaven
    10. Inside Out
    11. Believe
    12. One Year, Six Months
    13. Back Home

"Way Away" is the first single off of it.

Even if you hate punk, if you love music, you owe it to yourself to check out at least "Way Away".

Wow! Just checked out 'Way Away'! Great song! The lyrics are tight, the vocals are solid, guitars and drums give out that punkish energy but still have the diversity of alternative rock. The bass was great, especially at the end, and I agree, the violins are not too upfront, and make a great background effect. Everyone should d/l it! You can get a perfect quality file from the 'Music' link in the site thats only 812 KB! Consider me a new Yellowcard fan! :D

This band is truly spectacular...not your average punk band in my opinion. I have their first album and that new single...I hope they get bigger; they need to be discovered.

"Something Of Value" is a touching song. :)

I got the CD, its worth it. A acoustic version of "Empty Apartment" is on the enhanced part.

Yellowcard is great. My fav song by them at the moment is Cigarette. I love their Michelle Branch cover, too.

Yellowcard was 99th on the Billboard Charts in Ocean Avenue's first week. It sold over 11,000 copies, more then One For The Kids and The Underdog EP have sold to date.

I bought Ocean Ave today. Still have to listen to it. Newbury Comics is awesome. They have their old cd and two ep's there. They had Blindsides self titled album and their old one too(forgot the name).

I just got their album... Dude this band rules!

It's one of those albums I'm not going to get sick of listening to over and over for some time :D.

edit: I also love the violin strings in their music. They're like... A punk LP... Sort of... Kinda'.

    ..

I'm only on the second song and I already am. I didn't know they had a violinist in the band. How ill is that! Woah the behind the scenes. It seems like Ryan was about to cry. What happened w/the person who left? He reminds me of Branden from the Used and Sean reminds me of this kid I know.

Yeah, Ryan was about to cry. My best guess is their old bassist. Glad to hear you guys are really getting into Yellowcard, if you'd like any live MP3's or older songs from them id be happy to give them to you over AIM.

Ditto it is such a great album. Yeah their style is so different. Like the Dropkick Murphy's with the bagpipes (Yeah Boston) w/out the violin it just wouldn't sound the same.
