Derek convinced me, lol. He said that it would be cool to kind of release it as an early Christmas present, so I figured, why not? They were all already packaged up and sitting on my hard drive, so we just went ahead and uploaded them.
These sound wonderful. By far the best quality versions of these songs yet. One little concern though, the very end of Rhinestone seems to cut off before the last chord is done fading out. I don't have any of the other rips to A/B it with right now, so I can't be sure if that's just how the recording is, but it caught my attention.
Try opening it in a different media player and see if that fixes the issue. I just took a listen to it again and it plays all the way through for me.
I think I figured out what it is. At the end of the song, there's a loud *thump* from the bass drum. It makes it sound as if the song is cutting off, but the last chord continues on after that.
Astat liking these are by far the biggest compliment you can get. When I told him you remastered em, he was all like blase about it and really didn't think much of it because in his words "there are so many Xero remasters out there now". So you did well good sir. And I agree with Astat that these are remarkably good.
It's actually only something that happens on the FLAC version, oddly enough. The time from that last bass beat to the end of the song on the mp3 version is like 1.2 seconds, but it cuts off about half a second earlier on the FLAC.
Great work! Noticeably cleaner than previous versions. If you don't mind me asking, how long did this process take you? I'm not even sure how someone goes about "remastering."
Hm... That's so odd.. It must have been something that happened when it was saving. That's kind of strange.
This version took about a two weeks total. About one week of planning/trial and error, then another week of actually remastering them. I would go further in depth as to how you go about remastering a song, but then I would have to reveal my secret weapon. I can't do that, lol.
That definitely is the best compliment I've received so far. I really do appreciate everyone's love and support for the tape :').
Seriously, I've purposely avoided doing guitar tabs for the Xero demo for the last 5 years because the quality of the recording made it impossible. These tracks are actually clear enough that I might be able to do them now.
Hopefully so, cause that'd be amazing. I could try and help you out if you'd like. Stick N Move shouldn't be too hard, since it's basically just "Runaway" lol.
