This is a poll that was in our local newspaper. It was conducted to a hundreds of people. If a casino's ATM accidentally gave you 100s instead of 20s, would you turn in the money? No 50.68% Yes 43.44% Depends how much gambling money I needed 5.88% --------------- Would you take the money? or turn it back in.
I think i would keep the money, but only because im a teenager and im in desperate need since my job earns me shit all.
I agree with paul. There is no way in hell that the 43 percent would actually turn it in. Possibly some of them, but most of them would keep it flat out. That's like saying, if you found a million dollars on the ground, would u keep it? Hell Yeah!
i'd give it back i've had several experiences where i've been returned more money that i should get and i've turned it back in like at a mcdonald's, we got into a biff about giving them a $5 instead of a $20, they had to take their damn drawer out, count it in privacy and come out and tell me if i had really given them a $20 instead of a $5..... they gave me a full $20 or so bucks back and I gave them back the extra they ended up giving me. and then another time, me and my girlfriend took our change to the bank so we could turn them into bills and we had around $78 in change, but they gave us $178 back in bills.... as we were walking back to the car, i tried to make sure they didn't screw US, and i counted it twice and realized the mistake and took it back into the bank and gave them the extra $100 they gave us, lol..... I felt good, but my girlfriend was pissed that I had a damn conscience, lol.... oh well, i'm a sucker for karma. so yes, i'd give it back, lol as for a million dollars out in the open, no one around but me.... we'd have to see lol
Id keep it. Sure, my conscience will hate me but when my conscience sees that game in my hands he would say: Use that money!
I wouldnt be in a casino because I dont gamble but if a similar situation DID happen I'd like to say that I'd give the money back but I know that I would keep it
If a machine gives you too much money, you keep it. My stepdad got 5 100's instead of 20s at the bank machine and he called the bank. The bank told him to keep it. If a mechanical error legitamately gives you money, you should keep it. I mean, it's your fault, and for the company, it's nothing at all. So I would keep the money, and keep trying to re-create the error too
I wouldn't turn in the money. Things happen for a reason and if I am given a few hundred bills instead of twenty's, I'm going to assume that that's money I need to save for the future.
There's no way you'd be able to get away with keeping it. All ATM machines have a LITTLE camera that takes your picture as you remove money. It's their way of making sure nobody tries to vandalize or rob the ATM of its money. So if they figured out it was giving out 100's instead of 20's and they saw you just run off with a bunch of money, they can track you down with the law because they now have your photograph. Even though it's an error on THEIR end, it's still considered theft by law. So anyone who says yes isn't familiar with ATM machines. The question should be, "If you saw a sack of money on the ground with nobody in sight..would you take it?" because by law there's nothing they can do about that.
THe thing is, most people take the money, walk towards their car and count it. There's no way in hell the camera could see how much cash you got unless you hold it up to the camera. So the bank wouldnt know if it gave you the right or wrong amount.
