Rob. Sometimes I think he sneaks into studio late night and makes secret songs he'd release out of the blue one day!
I honestly don't see phoenix, brad or rob doing anything special. Hahn maybe.....I'm more confident of Mike, Chester or Hahn doing something again. Although, I'd love to see something from Phoenix. Maybe he's the next flea. I think Phoenix should get a bass solo sometime. Hahn, brad, and rob get solos. Never Phoenix. Is it me or is the bassist the least cared about person in most bands?
Yeah I think it depends on the style of band, but I think in this particular case dave has the least amount of attention payed to him (I hate to say he's the least cared about.) and its really unfortunate because I think he can do alot more than people give him credit for. But I would totally love to see his full amount of talent at bass and orchestral instruments, after all he did do all the orchestral instruments on reanimation
I would love to see what Phoenix can do. I know it doesn't really fit the sound of the band but he really should get to do more than root notes. Especially on HT and Meteora (I know Brad did the bass on HT) songs his part seems almost boring. I remember watching an LPTV episode where he was playing slap bass. In another I remember Brad doing a pentatonic scale with modal intervals. Even though it doesn't really fit their style of music, they deserve to show off once in awhile. Chester screams his heart out, Mikes goes into the crowd and lets them sing, rob gets his awesome solo on bleed it out, hahn gets enough moments of his own, brad gets a solo or two here and there (and I really hate when Chester does a huge scream during a solo because it really feels as if he's trying to bring the attention to himself, and the cameras all point at him while he's doing that) and lil ol' dave gets nothing..... I have a question for you guys but I'm not sure if this has been discussed anywhere but why does mike take some solos now? It really seems as if he's leading the band though all of this.
I mentioned this in two other places (shoutbox and Facebook), that Mike and Chino from Deftones should get together for a side project.
Mike and Chino are good friends actually. Mike was a guest performer at the Chi Cheng Benefit a couple years ago. Source: http://mikeshinoda.com/2009/11/19/chi-cheng-benefit-deftones-show/
brad rob and phoenix, full rock tracks with no vocals................ that would be pretty cool to hear for some reason, i dont think that would happen anyway
