Okay, that does throw things into question, provided that the parties organising that competition haven't completely forgotten about it! It's definitely being too optimistic to say that the band might want to have a lead single from their upcoming sixth studio album released before the end of this year. If there is a video being shot some time this year, my guess is that it'll either be for a song off "Living Things" (though not necessarily to promote a single release) or for a new song which won't appear on the band's next album. Perhaps they'll make a music video to promote "Mall" ...
I'm pretty confident there will be a single released from the Mall soundtrack. I'd be shocked if they did anything else for Living Things at this point, they currently have 2 shows scheduled for the entire rest of the year so what would the point of releasing another single be? They barely even got anything out of Castle of Glass. The absolute LAST hope for anything significant to happen involving Living Things was the Honda Civic Tour rumor which turned out to be untrue. Stick a fork in this album, it's DONE.
Fuck this. IMR deserved a video. Fuck, this album cycle sucked. Hopefully the next one will be better.
Hopefully Castle of Glass grows in US radio. It's essentially LT's last hope for a hit. ATS also had two hits: The Catalyst and WFTE.
"Living Things" was already selling more than "A Thousand Suns" did. Earlier this year, it went Gold. If marketing had gone more smoothly, I think it could've done much better :/
Yeah I think promotion was quite underwhelming. BID video took TOO long to be released, LITE video was a total flop in my opinion (it had amazing potential), COG got some very decent views, and POWERLESS was the best video (quality-wise) along with COG but wasn't really a single in its own way. So yes, business was pretty bad for LT. #BlameWarner If only they had taken the time to film videos the way they used to, they could've added more of a story and meaning to the videos and maybe their impact would've been a lot different.
I remember hearing Mike say how they were just finishing writing Burn It Down and almost immediately afterwards starting on the music video. With deadlines so short that the band hardly had time to make their music, you can imagine how rushed they really were.
